Hyderabad June 7: Ā Bulls may be loading up stocks and nudging up the Sensex in anticipation of fresh economic reforms by the UPA Government, but recessionary fears continue to cast a gloom in the job market, especially for the fresh MBA pass-outs this year. Despite some recent positive signals in the recession-hit economies, fresh MBA graduates still have to deal with constricted campus placements and lower availability of jobs. A survey by the Hyderabad chapter of the Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad) Alumni Association has shown that so far hardly 20 to 30 per cent of the pass-outs from the 90-odd MBA colleges in Hyderabad this year have been able to land jobs. ā€œIt is a more or l...

Bond swapping Ā is the process of selling aĀ  bond Ā and using proceeds from the sale to purchase another bond, in order to achieve specificĀ  investment objectives . There are several reasons why an investor would want to consider bond swapping or why a financial professional may advise it for a client, such as adding diversity to a portfolio, lowering taxes orĀ taking advantage of anticipated interest rate changes.Ā (To learn more about factors that affect bond prices, read our tutorial onĀ  Bond Basics .) Lowering Taxes Probably the most common bond-swapping purpose is to lowerĀ  capital gains Ā or ordinary income tax obligations. Bond swapping to lower taxes involves selling a bond that is tradi...

The current rally in the Indian Equity Market is said to be on the basis of perception change of the investors about general business conditions, economic environment and political mandate given by aam janta as a whole. Technically it has always been noticed that 'Market operates in future time.' The perceived market conditions of future are often discounted much ahead of any event, which includes tops and bottoms in sectors, sub prime, country specific and Geo-political tensions by the market. But the most interesting is the change in price of the asset class or rather the interplay of this asset class gives us reason and the clue to new generating trends in the money or business market. Ā  The filing is the biggest by a US manufacturer and the third largest in US corporate history. It marks the end of GM’s 101 years as an independent company. India's fiscal deficit for the 2008/09 fiscal year that ended on March 31 was 3.3 trillion rupees ($70 billion), the government said in a statement on Friday. In February, the government had revised upwards its fiscal deficit estimate for the year to 3.27 trillion rupees, equivalent to 6 percent of gross domestic product from an initial estimate of 2.5 percent. The deficit widened after the government announced extra spending of close to 1.5 trillion rupees to cover a farm debt scheme, subsidies and steps to stimulate...
