Financial sensitivity is the key issue. Though the disease pattern and affection remains unchanged, reduced spending power of customer segments in general has done the damage to private healthcare sector.

Marketing and innovation are two basic areas from where any business can achieve desired positive results. So where indian hospitals can strategize to get positive results? a) By choosing marketing, brand building and public relations initiatives. b) By adopting innovative ways in treatment or by inventing new process management. What option will give us the desired ROI if we are an entrepreneur or intrepreneur?
SR Sham Sunder  |  Commented  |  3 years ago
My vote is for Innovation too. All of you wont believe it, I advocate not small time innovation but total overhaul. In the long run, healthcare entrepreneurs benefit by a change in approach rather than sticking to present healthcare delivery...

Well, I think its will be innovation which can improve the ROI. Marketing plays no role if the no new technology or innovative ways of treatment is invented.... First innovate new ways of treatment then market that so that others will know about it...

Mr. Prakash, Your question refers to two aspirations, positive results and desired ROI. Both being relative to one -another, you may find solution if both (a) & (b) are integrated together for strategic execution. Technology must be deployed of...

There are more than 60 accredited hospitals in india either by JCI or NABH and if we add hospitals accredited by ISO then the number would be above 1000.  Accredition have never helped indian patients to choose a healthcare service provider as it never clearly indicates what benefits the patient is going to get from such accredited institutions. There are no clear demarcation for differentiating hospitals with their collective performance as one set up may be for secondary, tertiary or quaternary care. Patients are either referred to one hospital by general physicians or person in whom they have faith or they choose independently by their past experience. Few of the indicators I hope may he...

I agree with this point. Pharmaceutical patenting system should be liberalised. Restrictions should be taken out. Liberty shouldn't only be in the hands of first world countries. People in 3rd world countries are dying needlessly
KURIAN  |  Argues in support of  "Yes"  |  2 years ago
While U.S. drug companies reap record profits, millions are dying needlessly throughout the Third World. And the actions of the U.S. government--blocking needed medicine in the face of the devastating AIDS epidemic--are an outrage

When it comes health care we should plan 'focus on prevention: wellness not sickness', Many studies shows that primary and preventive care greatly reduces future health care costs, as well as increasing patients health. Indeed, some evidence does suggest that there are opportunities to save money and improve health through prevention. Preventable causes of death, such as tobacco smoking, poor diet and physical inactivity, and misuse of alcohol have been estimated to be more deaths in our countries. Sweeping statements about the cost-saving potential of prevention, however, are overreaching. Studies have concluded that preventing illness can in some cases save money but in other cases can ad...
