Organization: Astrazeneca Pharmaceuticals Limited , Bangalore Designation: Summer Intern Project Handled: 1)Reduction of cycle time of operation of a dry-heat sterilizer (I developed a 3D model of the dry-heat sterilizer using Gambit and exported this model into Fluent software to simulate the air and heat flow dynamics of the system) Key Skills acquired- Gained project management experience as I coordinated the whole project on my own. I was exposed to various modeling and simulation techniques used in the chemical industry. Period: December 2005 to January 2005 Organization: Reliance Jamnagar and Tata chemicals Mithapur Purpose of visit: Winter tour conducted by department of chemical engineering at IIT Kanpur. We were exposed to functioning of chemical engineering plants and actual production environment and technicalities. PROJECTS AT COLLEGE 1) Six sigma and its applications to biotechnology. Description: In this paper we suggested a methodology to overcome the limitations of conventional six sigma techniques considering constraints posed by biotechnology. 2) In vivo detection of cancerous cells using confocal microscopy. Description: This project was under laser department of IIT Kanpur. It involved development of a hand held device which could be used to detect cervical or breast cancer at a premature stage. Same could be deployed to mobile healthcare vans across villages in the country. 3) Development of a mini LCD projector home theatre system Description: This involved study of various display systems available in the market like DMD (digital mirror devices), LCD etc. Also I built a mini LCD projector using a LCD screen and conventional light projector used in classrooms.
