I think consumers are highly price sensitive and functional value works better so could be difficult for branded goods to compete price warriors. Good avenue for topline growth but not for bottomline.

Is there any data to be collected. Sending sms to multiple (any number) of users is as easy as typing text. u get spam from marketers all the time dont u. Just a matter of tying up with a service provider. and its really cheap too.
