A Brand is a name of a product service or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products services and concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed. Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name. Positioning the name of the product service or concept in the minds of the consumer in a profitable/(may be)unprofitable manner is called branding.

I agree with Mr. Khan,it's not something that can be expressed in 2-3 lines. It's very time taking process to distinguish yourself from crowd. I'd recommend you to go through a book called "Kellog on Branding", you will get your answers.
