i recently got selected for polaris.initially i was recruited for java.later i was called and asked if i would work in oracle instead.so please guide me to a better path.

Yes, preferably. At least for the entry level programmers (better read as coders). It provides a large array of APIs. Web and Mobile applications, Networking, Multimedia applications, for everything there is java with simpler coding methodology....
