Now java will be not open source in near future but it will never be platform dependent... I think thats the biggest feature of java forever.

That's the whole point that .Net is preferred for Windows environment. The advantage of Java starts from 1st line in your statement. Any Language/Framework if it forces User's to use a particular Platform(OS), then that's not going to be a hit with anyone. The Microsoft model of forcing user's to buy it's products doesn't sell that much because of this. .Net can never beat Java when it comes to supporting any number of different OS (be it Linux,Mac or Windows etc). That's why Platform Indpendence is a major thing which decides the fate of a Language/framework and as we all know Java rules in that.

ya j2ee is more better than .net.Because j2ee is not plateform dependent It has many good features rather than .Net .And now Java will more growth because orcale bought sun. so now Java has its own language,RDBMS. and it is more important that java doesn't need any support os.So j2ee the best. It new launched EJB3.0,3.1 decorate it now totally.

Every platform and OS has its strengths, Java is the only one which lets you reap the benefits of all. Develop on the most user friendly development environment Windows (well some people can definetly debate), and still have the freedom of deploying on the most secured and robust operating systems like *ix, Solaris. Take the best of the application servers like Weblogic/oracle, Websphere, the free JBoss, tomcat and even web servers like apache (can any server beat this one??).. It has one of the best IDE of all times eclipse (netbeans and intellij are worth mentioning too...). Finally it cost less $$ and have a lot of opensource community support and you have almost everything ready to customize for your business needs... and the list goes on and on...

The answer to this question is "It all depends on the requirements". If you have less time but is ready to invest money in licensing .net definitely provides u faster solutions. But if u are ready to invest time in some stable solution , you shall probably take a J2EE route. Java platform provides you with all the tools , libraries if you are ready to invent wheel yourself. MS does it for you in the form of drag-drop ui widgests functionality, coverage of Classes , Methods , Methodologyin the form of MSDN. Unfortunately Java world doesn't have such extensive documentation. It is probably because Java specs are defined by a joint commitee of companies (JCP) instead of a single company (i.e Microsoft).

This fight has been for long, J2EE still rules, most of the enterprise applications run on J2EE. Platform Independence, Security, Free, Multi threading are few things worth mentioning. Of course the skills availability may also come in picture which would support J2EE

In my opinion J2EE is better it gives the quality of independence of running the software. And has high hope of entering into higher development of technologies.

How we say something is better? Just saying this that J2EE is platform independent can we move with it. And what about support. Is there any support for J2EE like Microsoft .net from Knowledge base to MSDN. Let we go 4 a bet.. Go to develop a project distribute in team of J2EE developers with many years of experience and give same Project to a less experienced but .Net skilled team. You will have your product ready very before by .Net team than J2EE teams. We need to understand time is money. One more thing java language is free not the third party tools dedicated to java.
