It is a good demand ever. Women constitute about 50% of the population. It is difficult for this male dominated society to accept such reservation. It is difficult to get women to fulfil this 50% seats so i suggest 33% reservation to start with.It is a very good demand and I wholeheartedly support it.

LOL--Why don't they divide the whole population into different quotas? A day shall come when quota less people will need the biggest chunk of quota. Because in this country everybody cries deprived and everyone asks for reservation..where shall normal people go? To Moon?

Setting up a quota is not a solution for every problem ...........Merit decision has to be made on the basis of performance not on the basis of gender........we tend to adopt more of the quota method but unlike the universities in US we should implement a Merit Based Admissions only........When all r equal in eyes of law what is the need for a women's quota ???Girls are efficient and can do well too.............but tht does not mean there should be a seperate quota for that..........

We are living in 21st century where we are usually talked about equality for all then why 'ld we are supporting reservation system? Think now that all are equal no reservation because all are equally able to do any task......

Right to top class institutions should be only and only governed by merit and not by category, be it SC/ST/OBC or male/female. Do we want to really say that, women (or SC/ST/OBC) are not capable enough to meet the cut-offs of these institutions. It feels pitty to see that women's image even today is being broadcasted as the tortured, quiet species who is not considereda s a human. I myself being a female alumni of IIT feel that knowledge and dedication should be the only criterias.

no, there should not be such kind of Reservations, Because such Reservations affects efficient people. Good ranked students could not get admissions. and such well Imaged institutes should not keep reservations to maintain their image

it is a fact that a large sections of our soceity had no access to education and employment for long.. reservation was thought 2 b the best means to mainstream them. and perhaps,it been useful for the target groups the problem is, even after 63 yrs of independence, our politicians and policy makers seem to b using the same tool for empowerment. 1, we need to know how resevations hv helped the marginalised and 2, explore the idea of affirmative action by govt. and private institution. .. can we hv some fresh ideas there..

Reservation it is alright for some time. For longer period the reservation cannot be helpful. The actual talent will be suppressed by reservation, if the reservation prolonged for longer period.

I don't think that its gonna help in any way. If you look back at the history, you would realize that reservations have failed to serve their purpose & have become tool of vote bank politics and diverting peoples attentation from actual issues like lack of education and an over sized population. In a way it divides the society as well. I strongly condemn this demand and suggest people who demand such things to be put behind bars as to my understanding they seem to hurt our national integrity and disturb the fine balance in our society. I feel Mr. Dayanand's idea is be right but he's getting the execution focus wrong. If we want more participation from women, then lets work on giving the right circumstances to women and help them coming up naturally rather going for the "so called quotas" !!!

Its a big No. Please, I fail to understand the learned people when they say yes for reservation in education and jobs. No govt. can ask private institutions to put reservations in jobs. Can they? For the simple reason, when it comes to profit making you cannot have just about anyone but a quality resource, a professional . A single mistake is enough reason for the company to throw him out. With reservation, can the Govt. jobs continue the way they have been over years now? When it comes to institutions providing professional course, people without the necessary skills are bound to be failures in the institute and then later on jobs. How long does India wants to create this reserved section, a broad group of failures? When will we start respecting all citizens for whatever work they do? How many more underemployed engineers or good for nothing doctors or underemployed MBAs, do we need? When will we actually say that India is a land of equal opportunities for all? Or is this useless to make someone understand who is also in line to get through by reservation?

He is only politicising the issue. The core issue is not the reservation in his mind but to give befitting reply to those who are in favour of women's reservations. Now the answer to the question to the issue in hand. Look we certainly would like women to be part of the mainstream and every effort should be done to achieve that. But giving reservation in the institutions named will not in any way solve the real problem. Do you think after giving reservations to women in these institutions will result in lesser crimes against women or lesser torcher or women in the household or lesser eveteasing incidents on the roads or lesser misbehaviour with women. No I don't think. We should first reset the mindset of the Indian male towards the females. From the school onwards a subject can be added which gives moral education a top priority. The curriculum of that subject should be such that it imbibes the moral values in the mind of the pupils. This subject should not be optional. It should be mandatory for everyone. The audio video and print media should be properly controlled to give the desired results. This way we will have a change of atmosphere which will result in greater respect for women. And thereby becoming part of the mainstream.

India's biggest disease is the vision-less politics. From the day we got our independence, we have been watching the all-nonsense quota system. In one hand we talk about equality and in the other, we reserve seats or jobs considering the people to be weaker. Reservation, in any sense, is an indicator of corruption in future. All forms of quota should be abolished and women should be given fair chances to prove that they are equal in every sense. Otherwise, the gender divide would increase and we'll see its negative effects in near future.
