If one goes by a recent news, it is said that the vast majority of health care decisions nearly 80 percent or more are really made by individuals by themselves, instead of medical professionals, it may be about diet and exercise or ways of managing chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.  And currently the national health care debate right now is all about giving more people affordable access to doctors and hospitals.

The long-term answer to improving the health of the nation’s population and curbing costs, experts agree upon, is to help people make smarter decisions day in and day out about their own health. And the most powerful potential tool in the march toward intelligent consumerism in health care is web according to many experts. Many people now are routinely surf the Internet for health information. Doctors joke that the standard second opinion of diagnosis and treatment has become a patient’s Google search, with the results printed out and brought to the doctor’s office.

A new web tool is also there for help in that regard like, a San Francisco-based company, Keas, using the Keas system, for example, a person with Type 2 diabetes might receive reminders, advice on diet and exercise, questions and prompts presented on the Web site or delivered by e-mail or text messages all personalized for the person’s age, gender, weight and other health conditions.

Certainly yes. without doubt.

There are a lot of Info in the internet including feedback posted by consumers on the types of problems and treatment given by various docs ,the result of taking their medicine and also the side effects of the same .These side effects or blunders many a times is repeated by many people which of course docs dont tell you about.

Its always good to go thru the various feedbacks and compare them with yours because docs are reluctant to leave their patients with good health. They need to be in Business:)

Of course we are just a click away from all informations on health. Today normal public is more concerned about his health. Not only to save cost but also to remain fit and active and stay away from all kinds of sufferings. Common man today s ready to get knowledge about every possible way to stay healthy. They read all medical books (No matter they are medical students or not) like Allopathey, Homoeopathic, Ayurvedic, Herbal or whatever available in the market. Spent a lot of their body. By exercise or diet. They are learning more about medicines through different journals and above all Internet is the easiest way to provide all health informations. Thus, with the help of internet today, we are merely one click away from updated health related informations.

I will take on a yes side just because the reach of internet that it has, and we are seeing increasing internet connections across the country and if one knows how to surf the web and use the search properly, he can find answers for anything and everything.  But then I don't support people taking their own decisions when it comes to healthcare decisions, I think it should be left to Medical professionals to do that, a simple wrong info without knowing will cause more harm than ever, A doctor would be the best judge to tell you the exact facts, but with a new web tool like Keas we can see these kind of health service tool used for taking a good control over your health.

The insight of the peoples mentality is that health issue need to be taken care only when things go in wrong. If something goes wrong, many prefer to go in for medications and continue their work rather than going into a website and checking their status about their health. I can take a instance where i referred a health site called lifemojo.com to some of my friends for weight loss and nobody seems to be interested in those kind of sites. hence the health issues and awareness need to be done through campaign and direct conversation, movies rather than directing them to site. Yes the it is a click away to take control of health for the present technology but only for very few who has patience to register in such a site and feed in his / her details to get to know their condition. My suggestion is people should be go in for multi level campaigning (multi level marketing) regarding health awareness where they will be get to about points in health care.
