Waste Management and its subsidiary Greenopolis are diving into social gaming with a new Facebook app called Oceanopolis. The game will launch in beta, with a full rollout expected in the coming weeks. This game is launched with a mission to increase the awareness amongst people about the degradation of the Earth's environment.

Yes, it will work out. In the game, players maintain their own island by recycling trash to build a sustainable community and interacting with friends. Points earned virtually turn into printable coupons that can be used at movie theaters, restaurants and stores.

Alternatively, they can be turned into cash donations. Points can also be earned in real life through recycling or through blogging on Greenopolis‘ site.

Actually you can't change thoughts of people in a day or by a game. The above game will be a hit just because of the rewards what people will get but I don't think it will be able to create any awareness about the environment. People will play it just for fun & then go & use plastic bags, tin cans, CFC's, etc.

They will never change until they suffer!!

But games have real effect on childrens because they play games in their full spirits.So a game like this is better than the games which induce only agressiveness in childrens.Nice move by facebook.Its our responsibilty to spread the climate change awareness in every possible way.

I go by smita, for a simple reason, as now a days video games have become a passion among the prople, as an when peope get time they prefer to go by video game, then it may be in mobile, or internet etc.. and people are always finding somthing new to play. so i think this will help them as its a new found to update people with environment in the form of game. hope it becames HIT among all the Masses.

Now where this game is availabe that's more important,
