It is not like Idia itself is in need of electricity. There is a difference in the amount of eletricity available to each state in India to satisfy the needs of paople. Tamilnadu is self sufficient with the electricity they are producing, whereas kerala and Karnataka are struggling to satisfy the need of electricity.again there are political and financial reasons for the darkness found in kerala and karnataka. kerala which is a low income state cannot buy electricity from other states for a higher price(which is afinancial reason), whereas Karnataka one of the highest revenue earning state in India is not ready to buy electricity bcoz of some other reasons(which can be political or technical). But the decision to sell electricity to Pakistan (if it is true) is of another financial perspective, that is ,to earn foreign currency which eventually benefits our GDP.

Firstly we need to sell goods and services outside the country to earn money for growth. Selling in domestic market is like father giving a part of his earnings to the son and asking him to work at home. Both father and son are earning for work done but the family earning does not grow. Secondly you cannot ignore a customer. If you refuse him once he moves away to someone else. China has already become the supplier of the majority of goods for USA and is taking the Indian market by storm. If we do not take care of Pakistan, China will seize the opportunity and it will be worse for us and too late to do anything.

Depends in what time frame, because electricity is not like any commodity which can just be transported. It requires creating of quite huge infrastructure for generation, transmission and distribution. And all of this can take years or decade subject to clearances from various statutory and non statutory stakeholders.Presently we lack supply but looking at number of power projects coming we can definitely earn revenue after decade and half.

Yes,why not,as neighbors we should help each other out,i.e if we have genuine'surplus' here and there's a genuine 'deficit' there, they helped us with onions,we reciprocated with cotton, hundreds of children from Pakistan get treated here in our hospitals for congenital and other heart defects, quietly and without fuss,so let all humanitarian gestures continue without fail.

Let them do when they have surplus. First they should fulfill their own state's power supply needs, they should not think about selling to Pak and Srilanka. TN has 4 hrs powercut and KA has 2 hrs. The situation in 2 tier cities of these states are very worst, Villages are geting daily 2 hrs power, how do they take care their paddy fields.

We should not help those rogues at all. If possible, let them starve so that finally they choose to accede to India. India is short of electricity. Why should we export it ? This is very shameful.
