when you start out being a professional, your starting point is defined by what you know. And what you know can be certified (expectation of performance made reliable) by academic qualifications. At least for now that is the only way till something better comes along.

Yes, this is but one of the unfortunate situations we are in during the screening process. Academic qualification is the ticket to a successful career but certainly not a must for a successful life. You can be successful for yourself without having a degree but if you need to work for some orgn., then your academic performance shows how worthy you are to handle the job. Companies like Infy are even more stringent on this. They require a min. pass% throughout the academic journey which is quite higher than the rest.So yes, if you are on the higher bracket, you can certainly get a free pass for the selection process.

Academic qualifications are needed to achieve a huge success. May be those without or little qualification have achieved success in life but the people who run the top companies of the world are well qualified persons. That is the difference in success between the academically qualified and other.

Yes, to find your platform to perform you need an entry pass. Academic qualifications provides entry pass and theoretical knowledge of the field. Rest is left to the individual's performance.

Having good academics ,if the person is not talented, dedicative in his/her work there is no meaning in it. yes i agree that to get good opportunities ,one has to have good academics. At the same time one should nerve forget the children of people with power, money and position will also have good academics with no pure talent and intelligence ,they will surely have exposure for good money management........while recruiting .....If the company search for true intelligence should not only depend on academics but for dedicative people with knowledge is very much important.

Ofcourse qualification does add its two bits, but after all what you make of your inherent traits qualities and use of knowledge and ultimately your lifes practical experience is what makes you sucessfull ,specailly indian academics structured in such away that most probably what you are doing professionally you never learned academically but was taught to by practical life ,experiences and self learning

Well, "Academic Qualification" seems to do like that, because it's campaigned in that manner by MNCs/Factories/Business Houses of education. Say..why the "Projects done/Individual's efficiency don't matter" ? ( Especially in India ). Because if it would be so, India has enough talented people, that could grow on their own. So govt and business houses plan in this way. You wanna grow? 1) First invest in our education business houses. ( OMG!.. your fees is so high! --> and academic education is so 3rd rated.. so what? You wanna grow or not ? ) 2) The 2nd step includes filtering 10 out 100 students, on various basis. Say 5 are really talented, 1 on reservation basis, 1 on caste basis, 1 on political approach basis etc. You can notice the amount of interference possible in the current system. 3)3rd step is to label the candidates eligible to earn money under the survelience of the business houses. Generally labelled with cream positions ( cream means where there is little or no work... only directing workers to do this .. do that etc) . And the rest 90 are given the labour work. This is the craziness about academic qualifications that Indians never get into innovative jobs. They always love to be an employee.. but seldom try starting their own ventures. ( Well obviously because it's the whole preplanned system they are trapped into )
