Mind your manners, that is the simple message for all from the corporate world next. Employers are now demanding Etiquette Quotient or ETQ other than IQ and EQ to assess the candidates humane nature during interactions and dealings with clients and staff. Under the impression that courtsey and etiquette are sorely lacking among students and managers demand for workshops on etiquete are more from B Schools and corporate houses as per report.

So is it important and necessary in future

Since most companies expanding internationally good manners have become buisiness imperative. When all candidates display a slew of eaqually impressive qualifications ETQ provides that definite extra edge. Most people prefer polished well spoken and grounded people on board. Since Managers are customer facing, a major part of their work is done at power launches and buisiness meetings where etiquete plays a crucial role

Absolutely ... manners, courtsey and etiqettes are ver much necessray. This should be embedded in ones soul and be a natural phenomena.

Question : how do we find a quecient for this ? Elaborations might help.

---------   In UK, a very recent incident is doing its rounds in Media. The PM, Gordon Brown was on an election campaign and happened to meet his party coleague elderly Jilian Duffy near Manchester. PM showed all courtsey to this aged lady and returned in his car. Away from the lady, Brown whispered all bad ideas about his encounter with the lady. This was being heard by UK people over live "telecast" by a TV channel under contract ... a small microphone was just attached on his coat.

What do U say .... courtsey only for courtsey's sake ?  Quecient  ... only to be used in business ?

Business etiquette is very much needed in local business & especially when dealing with international clients. Many times the way that you act could determine how much business you could do with others. A person needs to be able to control & conduct themselves in a proper manner.
Proper business etiquette shows your communication skills, how serious you could be & how successful you‘d be in business relations. Presentation is key. It’s all in how you present yourself to others. As the saying goes “you never get a second chance to make a first impression.” So you’d need to know how to speak to others & how to interact with them.

When you meet people in person or on the phone, it’s all about how you carry yourself, your demeanor, your character, your manners, your communication skills, how you’d handle certain meetings & how well you speak. If a person doesn't know how to show proper business etiquette, they should take a class on etiquette for foreign & domestic business or people. How a person handles things could let their true character shine through & help them to develop better business relations.

darshana has put it in a good way. it's the etiquette that will look up by someone at end of the work. rather then iq and eq.

yup

as a student i will say that it is very important.

coz whatever are you inside doesnt matter but how you present yourself to others is important.

ET's are very important for maintaining the decorum at the workplace.

but for having a right ETQ one must posses right IQ AND EQ

I agree with your pont of vew. It is the same in any part of the world. Young people don't behave respectfully. That make everybody upset and agressive.

That why I encourage everybody not to judge but understand with morphopsychology

Manoj I agree with you etiquettes will play a vital role in the coming future. If you ask me I will tell this is more important than IQ and EQ. Everyone can improve his IQ and EQ by means of training. But etiquettes are not like that it should be there from your childhood or else it is very difficult to change. So to survive in the coming corporate world try to learn the ETQ.

If this is a practical way to develop own intercultural intelligence (<<the understanding and respect for others' culture and ways of thinking>>) well "Etiquette Quotient" is welcomed in a globalized environment (business, or not)

Friends,

It is becoming more of a fashion to use more and more such terms at best.

So far as ground situation and application are concerned not many may fully understand the reason, logic or utility.

Etiquette is necessary without doubts. How to apply? Is complication required? or simple old ways are good enough may at best be debated.

Companies with a well imbibed culture and business ethics normally may require very little intervention. With normal IQ in place no employee may take chances to deviate if such practiced culture is already in place in the company.

For a new startup it is the business owners and senior management who have to initiate this culture through " practice before preach" approach..

The presebt day generation is very aggressive in expressing its views. Not only do they express their views but they also enjoy and seem to think it is normal to trash other people's views often embarassingly in public.

I am strongly of the opinion that EQ or mind-your-manners as you call itr is very very urgently required. Most of the time the kind of disagreements that i find in the work place and occassionally in their personal lives, leraves me wondering.....cant they even solve this? it started because of their big mouth!

Before some one says it, i will say it. I am guilty of the same thing here. But I have waited so many years for an opportunity to discuss this.....i guess that excuses me.

All said and done, politeness is definitely the vitue of princes....we could use some princely behaviour around!!!

Definitely ETQ plays the dominant role in assessing the human nature in a given atmosphere where how he/she reacts. Good manners are very important while dealing with everybody and customers in the corporate culture. How we behave is the key to bring good results to the company.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Manojkumar.

Thanks, Mr Manoj for a beautiful piece of referral. It is a news to me that corporate world woke up so late.ETQ must be integral part of a dress up personality. This is a very important ingradient for managing internal and external affairs. MANAGERS WITHOUT ETQ ARE MORIBUND LOT.

The Qs don't help so much just have to watch the turnier in companies that are famous and careful in recruiting. Job crisis doesn't allow everything. The more you want to use Qs the more you dematerialize recruiting. Keep in touch with human use morphopsychology to know people and appreciate abilities and behavior.
