Thanks for referral Jyoti! A difficult question... I think it was her first choice and Aim. Every politician wants the Seat(CM). However the earlier decisions taken by her were not much efficient but she is successful to become popular. It is not a post for managerial job where anyone reject her in interview due to her past decisions. JANTA can do anything. people have very short memory in India. Only popularity and coalition build CM not you and me....

KOLKATTA ONCE THE COMMERCIAL CAPITAL OF INDIA, TODAY IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IT WAS EARLIER,HAS LOST ALL THE GLEAM.MANY BIG INDUSTRIAL HOUSES HAVE RELOCATED THEMSELVES TO OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY.THERE HAS BEEN A MINISCULE PERCENTAGE OF GROWTH.MAMTA WITH HER PROMISES TO BUILD ROME OVERNIGHT AND AS MENTIONED BY ONE OF MY FRIENDS, THERE IS NOBODY TO STRONGLY OPPOSE HER.WILL SUCCED IN HER AMBITION.HER DAMAGES TO THE ECONOMY WILL BE CONFINED TO HER HOME STATE ALONE.LET GOD SAVE KOLKATTA AND KOLKATTANS.

I support Aniruddha , West Bengal has no choice, BJP is dead there, Congress has a near zero existence and Left are losing grounds, So what remains besides handful of independent only Mamta Banerjee so it is she who will become CM there

True, common people in West Bengal was waiting for this since long. Since left parties came to power in West Bengal a big group of the then commoners including teachers, govt. employees or different service professionals found their voice against the then economically influential ruling class. As time passed by, this Bourgeois class has taken the ruler’s position in West Bengal; this has been successful in securing its own socio-economic position or even improves it, but non-intellectual commoners remained in the same state – struggling against poverty, malnutrition and ill-health. One section of our engineering collage goers cheered up with the news of Singur project’s coming up while they were foreseeing it as a job-yielding plan, on the other hand small farmers and land owners of this rural area had to fight with their blood to protect their own means of livelihood. Mamata’s victory in the municipal election, I think is the victory of the people against ever-increasing economic gap between rich and poor and overall infrastructural mess in the state helping a couple of business groups. Mamata has become the symbol of honesty, seriousness and courage among the common people and believers of ‘money is nor all’– her and her party’s duty is serve this belief now.

Ayan, fully support you, that this time the Diaspora of Kolkata is no more CPM but they want a change and they will look for a change in Mamta Banerjee. Priya you are right. Choices are not much with Kolkata people but when a community or state is looking for a change it requires the near best chance available, thus the Kolkata people will give a chance for change to Ms.Mamta Banerjee to prove her worth. Hope that she uses this opportunity in the right perspective of betterment!

Yes she was working for it and she will prove it. Her statement during the rail accidents were taken very positive by the Bengal people and they liked it so much resulting the victory in the corporation election. It was required highly for the progress of Bengal. You said very truly that during the left in power Bengal was left and only left. She is dedicated leader and fit to become CM. She can fight for the rights of Bengal. But I would like to request one thing that being Railway Minister she should take care of railways also or other wise hand over this to any other responsible person.

Local body victory help consolidate her base. If the civic body performs well, no doubt, she will be the next CM. Moreover, there is no really alternative force that pin at . Stronger base gives her authoritative approach in the regional outlook.

I completely agree with Ayan. Mamta was nobody till nandigram & singur came to the fore front and she has taken the centre stage and today became a clear winner because of complecency of left front. Are bhaia let her also cherish her lifes desire to become the Chief Minister and she will play hard ball and within two to three years she will be once again a non entity or will go miles. Lets watch this with interest.

She shouldn't face much problem getting to the CM's gaadi. It is almost obvious. However, she will not do it alone but with the Congress alliance. In any case, her clout is going to be stronger and the region could benefit if she still remains serious about the development of the place. We should not forget that this is the same Mamta who drove away TATA from WB.

IMO she shud remain as rly minister and install a dummy CM in WB, then she will be in direct contact with centre which would help the state govt to carry on many activities more smoothly. More importantly a leader like her is most suitable at the centre than at the state. Then it will be greatly beneficial for WB.However in any case I want TMC to be in power and CPM be ousted from WB . The faster the better.

Mamta Banerjee will not be an good candidate for CM of WB. The reason is if she could not control & take care of Indian Railways & stop the development & industrialization of WB what improvement she can bring about in WB. If CPM calls for one strike the next day she will ensure its bandh next day. I think we can see lot of holidays if she becomes CM. People have no choice, coz our political system is rotten with corrupt and selfish people. Who have their own agenda & develop their own family & friends. God save Us.

I completely support you Mr. Asoke. As I am an amateur to politics and has also felt that the govt of w.b needs a refreshment but not with Ms.mamta banejee, The immature politician, who often makes foolish comments and dosent know how to handle situations.Citing one example just after the KMC elections her comments on the death of "Mr bapi Dhar" and calling him a terrorist exposed her to severe criticism.I dont know whether or how long if she becomes the CM, she will be able to sustain with such a strong headed attitude. It is for her that we have suffered bandhs, strikes, severe political upheavals and she has no reasons for all these. She sits amidst in the streets of calcutta and carries a BHOOK HARTAL for the nano issue disrupting the life of common people. She is really a nuisance. I am not against any party and I am not favouring any party such as left front but speaking of the representative of the TMC, Ms banerjee is really unpredictable. She shouts, she stands amidst the streets and then she creates a fuss..With this attitude I dont thin she suites for a CM stand. In a CM every people want to see a stable, leader who have some minimum decency, literacy and gentleness but wit her occupying the CM post, Calcutta will feel that to make a refreshing change , again they have committed a blunder...but alas, with the present trend it is predictable that she is going to be the nest CM...and we are going to suffer...
