Yeah I quite agree with this new caption like the "one who sleeps after gaining speed looses the race" and this holds quite true in the current scenario as people are in such a hurry to achieve things and then suddenly loose steam or loose interest in what they are doing and shift towards something else. And the old caption the slow and steady wins the race has been left behind somewhat late according to me, or I may be wrong slow and steady still wins the race may be still relevant today. But now its everything about competition and making sure that how fast you reach your destination.

Sure!!! Steady is the word and there is no compulsion to remain slow.

Your own pace and a steady pace at that is best suited.

Aggression is never a necessity as it can arise out of requirements.

Hello Ankur,

Are you what you have put up a VP in people logic solution? If true, well Ankur what’s the point filling up this electronic bill board with such mediocre conversation. If you are a male adult from your experience I think you will agree a six year old male child cannot masturbate. Have you lost all zeal and stimuli in life.  Listen if your hot your hot, if your not, your not.  If you know what to do and how to do.  Do it, simple. The rabbit and tortoise story I enjoyed when I read in primary school, in high school I studied algebra then I felt this story is gibberish it’s like adding Buffalos to  apple, how could a tortoise race with a rabbit they are different species?

What I want to convey is no matter what everything in this universe has a context, some discover  it some understand it, some don’t, can a visually blind man ever describe how an elephant  looks.

Speed is highly relative, the whole universe including the earth is moving do you feel it?

As  Kriti Das said, slow and study wins the race is no relevance in cutthroat competition environment.  at the same time how hurry you may be in achieving the desired goal, you cant sleep to sustain.  You need to go on running atleast to stay there where u are.  If you take a leap, be ready to go out of the race.

Aggression ! why with only example of Rabbit and Tortoise. Try to observe it  on roads when the traffic is plying when we are moving to our offices are coming back to home or any time on the roads.  All accidents, traffic jams, chaos are much of the time result of aggression. Aggression is appearing in behaviour. No patience, no tolerance, no respect for fellow person. Are we not loosing ? Yes ! .  Ofcourse,  we are loosing  in aggregate. Take a oath to remove the aggression from on the roads.

Dear friends this is true "the one who sleeps after gaining speed, always loose." Because illusion comes in mind that you are most forward of others but truth is many more are ahead of you. This is a nature's law no one can be remain ahead of others.

It can be said that life is a race, but it is on you to decide by which speed you want to go. Speed is good, but with out steadiness you will fall down, so I am agree with the "slow and study" concept.

Fast and steady is the one who will races. Today, the scenario has changed. These old saying "Slow & steady.." is no more a perfect match in this changing world. Most important is that one needs to STEADY progressively.

Thanks for the referral Ms Kirti,

Nice topic Mr Ankur, thanks for sharing the continuation of the old story. It is human tendency that when we are ahead of some one we tend to relax, this relaxation at times allows others to take over and leave us behind. In today’s world one who relaxes is left behind for miles.

Hello Friends,

Thanks a lot for sharing your valuable inputs. I would love to share one response that I have received for this debate on a different networking forum. Here it goes:Here is the story after the original one which is generally not heard of: That can be considered as the continuation of the earlier story. It could be a little out of the debate topic but still would like to share.

After the initial race, the Hare realises his mistake of over confidence and asks the Tortoise for another race for which the Tortoise agrees and this time the Hare wins by miles!

Moral - the strong and fast ones should always be Alert and never be Over Confident

After some days the Tortoise realises his potential and approaches the Hare for another race & the Hare agrees, but this time the Tortoise sets the route... After crossing half way mark the Hare comes across a river and stops there, but the Tortoise comes slowly and crosses the river and is declared the winner...

Moral - the weaker ones should understand their weaknesses and Realise their Potential where it can fetch Positive results.

The story doesn't end here

By this time, after so many races the Hare and the Tortoise are good friends and they decide that they will together set the route next time and the race should be conducted in such a way that both should Win together, so in the next race the Hare carries the Tortoise on its back till the river bank, then the Tortoise carries the Hare on its back across the river and Bingo... there they are, both stand as equal winners!!! and the final Moral of the story is

There is no "Second" to "Team Work" :)

Hello Mr Narayan,

Thanks for writing in.

The point of debate here was: Whether the Tortoise won because he was slow and steady or because of complacency of the hare.I hope i am not confusing you here.

Regards

Ankur

What I understand by gaining speed as, " popularizing brand" & " established market". Well it is all depends how they want to run on "Image setting".Current world looks thing at different levels & in different perspective. So, at times selling the image is cost effective but not always.Because , often, similar fakes are floated  to tarnish your Image. So, need to take care of it. You might have read about  fake medicine recently sold out & coca cola duplicates . All happened in well established Image owning industies. So, beware of these in your strategy.

In my opinion during present competitive time, we need  to take task/assignments in the strategic way, whatever action we can take in fast track, we must take, to be on track, if can accomplish in first go that s well,  secondly we get time and complete the remaining part in later stage so that speed can be maintained.

I Hope all of you must have read the story about a race between tortoise and hare in which tortoise won....In my childhood i read the moral of that story as " Slow and Steady wins the race". But now after gaining some experience, i believe that the moral should be "The one who sleeps after gaining speed, always loses". Would love to know your views...

Listen Ankur BDM's are employed to do the marketing, sales running around, you may like to describe yourself being in this role to be a tortoise, rabbit, elephant, tiger, horse, rat, leach, worm, virus, Trojans, all of them one of them or Business Development Manager whatever choose. You deleted your initial conversation pack at the top; this confirmed the fact that you are some shady shoddy personality whether you are a VP or chaprasi does not matter anyhow, it’s all generating crap on a global bill board.

Now the entire moral is gone only morons. If you don’t know the meaning of “moron” check it online.

Slow and steady wins the race is very true... when we are slow we tends to focus and get more exposure in whatever we do, this focus and exposure can lead to stable success.

Yes,I agree with ur statement "slow & steady always wins the race" .But today u see an exception in this case also if someone is slow in doing their work , other think that he/she is a looser .Also I want to tell u that today we r living in optional World & we have many lines so no one remain same after achieving its aim.

I cant say slow means to slow but Yes CONSTANT ACTIVITY WITH CONSISTENCY AND COMMITMENT CAN MAKE YOU ACHIEVE ANYTHING-- AGGRESSION WILL HELP U A BIT BUT IF IS NT BACKED BY COMPELLING REASON, IT DIES OUT SO Winner IS, WHATS UR COMPELLING REASON TO DO IT OR ACHIEVE SOMETHING, IF THAT IS CLEAR, NOTHING CAN STOP U

Actually, I saw this topic for some time and as I felt both are important and have their own merits I didnt participate. But seeing the debate between Mr. Narayan and Ankur I would like to add my view point. Dear Ankur, Do all Olympics Items are only spped based, May be I am wrong, but for example, in shooting one can be slow and steady for winning the gold.

Appreciate your views Mr Narayan but i have never seen any slow and steady runner winning an Olympic gold. I believe "Being Steady" is the key here as pointed out by Mr Ravindra with as much speed as possible ( In relative terms as well).

Please let me know if you differ on this.

Regards

Ankur

Dear Mr. Agrawal ,

This is a moot point ! When two people fight and one of them wins , it can be because the winner fought better , or because the loser did not fight well !

Who is to decide ?

The point is that victory goes to the person who fights till the bitter end ; what is required is determination and the ability or the desire to persevere till the very end.

How many times have we seen cricket matches which were almost on the point of being won , lost dramatically ? Who can say such matches were lost by the loser or won by the winner ?

What is certain is that a loser gives up well before the end , while the winner never gives up till the very end.

Dear Mr Joydeep,

I wish i have not lost my zeal. And if you mean from your experience that a tortoise can not race with a rabbit, acc to me it means either you dont believe in competition or you are too over confident that a tortoise (please consider a small upcoming competitor) can never beat you (pls consider a well settled brand with a good market share).

Now about a visually blind man describing how an elephant looks. if a visually blind man can read, why cant he desribe? What i want to convey here is: Everything in this universe has a context. the peak and duration of success depends upon how you understand the context and act on it as you mentioned.

Well in this debate, my point was, if you consider two new unknown companies ( A and B) which are in the similar business lines. Is it that company "A" will be successful because it acts as a tortoise or because company "B" gets only spikes of aggression.I hope i make my point clear here.

Last but not the least, I did not expect such response coming from a BDM of a networking company (where you see many tortoise these days competing with rabbits). No offends mean.

Warm Regards

Ankur

Dear Mr. Agrawal ,

Where is the debate in this ?

In the old fable , the hare does exactly this : loses steam after gaining speed , and goes to sleep , which is why the tortoise , which epitomises slowness but steadiness , wins.

Even in today's situation , races are not won overnight ; it's a long haul , and consolidation is the key. Slow may not be appropriate , but steadiness is certainly an essential trait for success.
