No they are not lazy, but their work load is less. Since it is a government sector the scale size is more and the work is splited   and given to many people. So you find them lazy, it does not means they are not doing their work.

:)

govt jobs are valued, more funds coming in for further development in work and personnel. all govt personnels are sincere, jobs are hard to get, which the work load is light and less demanding.

Let me ask you a question Mr. Purkait. If I as a consultant is being paid US$ 2,000 per month to do the same job you are doing for 20,000 rupees per month, will you do the same quantity of work or work the same hours? If you respond to this question, then I will respond to your disagreement.

Please note I am sharing knowledge about what goes on in my country(Guyana) and no way can I compare your country to mine.

We cannot say that the govt. choses lazy people to work for the govt. but actually its poor management. the same set of people work good with private sector.

I concur with Devi's viewpoint that laziness is not the prime contributor towards the exhibition of malevolent behaviour by the government employee. It is the  fact that they were always the crown jewels for various support groups e.g. political parties ,trade unions etc who solicit their support and in return patronise their inertia thereby alleviating the fear of retribution in case of non performance. The other contributing factors like non recognition, low wages, stunted growth opportunities, cronie system and lots of other malaise infecting them de-incentivise their will to perform their jobs on a consistent basis.

All government employees are not lazy. You cannot judge all of them by some of them. I was a government employee prior to my current employment as an independent contractor and got a best worker award in 2002. It is true to an extent that some of them don't have enough work to do hence they can be seen idling. This does not make them lazy. Also it is important to mention that government employees( in my country) are being paid a lower salary so you can't expect them to perform at the same level as a consultant or even private employees.

Agreed with swapna and furthermore we can find answer if we think about working style of offices under British rule before independence.. they adopted the hierarchy (peon->clerk->babu-->section officer-->manage-----..and all they were having work load hence that was ok! but after independence we adopted the same organisational architecture.. but with less load.. hence ... they become... so.. further.. I can't believe..even now in jet age, i got my certificates verified in 30 days..because of this (((AAJ DAAK dispatch ki hai..kal POST hogi. by normal post and so on...... Hence Government is RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LAZINESS by THE EMPLOYEES

Well, Yes and No. No doubt multi-tasking is unheard of in the govt. sector, but the slow pace of life, coupled with job security and lesser work pressure does make a human being lazy. I would put the blame less on the people, and more on the system.

i think Ms swapna dass is self working in govt dept so will not give comments for own community rather answer lies to herself ,if u have been gone in tehsil/courts etc for ur residence certificate /driving license/passport issue etcit is laziness of govt employee that we have to go to pvt agencies ofr making our work done like driving licenses/certificate /passport/ration card. even if govt employee must not lazy than u must have open account in pvt bank because there services are fast as com[pared to govt bank whre a individual waste his full one day

yaa all govt employee are lazy because of not time to time devlopment programme is being conducted and because of job security reason, they hardly matter for other people to whom has they are responsiblt ,example is of govt doctor r leaving govt job and practising pvt because of more exposure and facility and improvment in there practice, alsoin govt dept person's personel develpoment is very very slow because of this they are slow and because of job security and family responsibilty they do nt want to lave job and go for pvt job so they work with there old systems and slow system

A MAJORITY OF GOVT EMPLOYEES BOTH STATE & CENTRAL ARE UNDOUBTEDLY SOMNOLENT.THEY ARE CONTENT. CURRENT SCENARIO IS MOST OF THEM TO DO THEIR DUTY WANT SOMETHING EXTRA.THEY ARE VERY CAPABLE OF FINDING OUT REASONS FOR NOT DOING A WORK.THERE ARE OF COURSE EXCEPTIONS BUT WE SHOULD ONLY TALK OF MAJORITY.THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY HENCE EASY GOING WAY OF LIFE PUTTING THE PUBLIC INTO UNTOLD HARDSHIP.

Let's not always concentrate on to the exceptions, coz these exceptions are creating differences in the mentality of common thinking attitude!

I would not agree with your views Ms. Kaladeen. Going by your logic that smaller payscale justifies lesser output, one should not be working at all for any compensation lesser than that desired. A disgruntled employee should just quit, and find greener pastures, instead of sticking to a low paying job and giving poorer results. But as long as he is on the job, he is bound to do justice to his responsibilities, designation and duties. These are the fundamentals of professional ethics. Having said that, the Sixth Pay Commission has ensured that govt. wages come at par with that of the private sector. Without the work ethics and added responsibilities, of course.

'Most of the human beings tend to move to the most comfortable positions , others get sick of it & try to find other ways.'

No sir, its just their good luck that they have found an organization or system which is letting them to do so,,,,just provide similar conditions to others,,,& see,,,,,,, the award goes to,,,,,,we the people!

to my openion we as individual should not put ourshelve in to the seat of the govt. employee, bt to give a general trend of govt working .

And the general trande of Govt working is just ( khadye Gayali Govt) means the whole orgasination lead by our leaders is just in 18'th century, & more over the job security to the employee,,,, is an added (dis) advantage to the govt . orgenisations & to the common people too.. since last so maney years the entire system is adversly effected by the virous of undertable correspondance.. & it has damaged the whole systeme & i think in the present sineario thre is no one who can set right the working environment......till than .......god is great......
