As there is economic crisis that is upon all of us and so much recession one is seeing, and there are pink slips given like coupons at organizations, there is no job available for the freshers as such and does it really make sense going for an MBA in recession time?? What are your views on this

According to me Its right time to update and trained... and doing MBA is a great idea ... MBA will take 02 Years to get the degree and as per experts recession will also take 1 or 1 & 1/2 years to come out. So with MBA you will equiped with more knowledge and latest modules and also with referesh energy ....

I hope at such times being in job is more important than gaining degree.

If we can see there is definite requirement in our skill set I hope that we may think to pursue MBA degree but with such economic trends availaible globally I do not agree to such points. in my opinion it would be more favourable to gain technical skill than management skills as it definately going to give us more technical edge.

Absolutely! For a working executive, at various stages of career; there is a requirement to enhance skills in terms of academic knowledge. A MBA is a wonderful eye opener that provides vision about various aspects of business and management; thereby, useful for many professionals. If pursuing a MBA makes logical sense and requirement for a professional under normal circumstances, then it make all the more greater sense during recession. This can be taken as an opportunity to prepare oneself for diverse and challenging roles in future and build an advantage over peers who will also be competing for those roles, as and when they are available.

Anyday, its better to channelize one's energy in right direction than idle with thoughts of recession.

Cheers

I strongly support doing MBA is far better than trying to get job this time. those who lack MBA degree should go for MBA this time and who are having some experience in related field and an MBA degree should opt for Executive MBA which will hone their skills. Reccession is short lived so dont waste this God given time.

Dear Mr. panda, you have taken up an interesting topic though. It is a great idea to get back to studies for a while. One can dive onto an executive MBA or any other industry recogised certification progam which will be quite helpful for the future. Recession must be taken a s a blessing in disguise for a simple reason that one would have time to look back and evaluate his career options and take progressive steps to make it better when the time is ripe.

According to me one should go for MBA, but then with the economic crisis and recession that is there, even though one having MBA is finding it difficult to get job, it is not easy out there and they have stopped recruiting freshers and may be experienced candidates will have a look-in. But MBA is necessary, by the time he or she comes out with the degree may be the market would be stable and will return back to the old days..So still MBA is a better option than others.

No it doesn't make sense at all, an MBA during recession time, where again one has to shell out nearly 5 lacs to get admission in a decent college,, and in this recession consumer behavior is totally changed and one is not spending the way they were a year ago, every body are trying to save money for the future which is rather looking tumultous.

No i don't agree with sudhanshu, it doesn't make sense at all to pay such huge fees and then not getting job which is a difficult thing to digest, and the trend is like there are no jobs available as such and who knows when will the market become stable, nobody knows anything about it, so MBA in recession is not a good decision according to me
