MAHATMA GANDHI ONCE SAID A MAN WITHOUT A GOAL IS LIKE A SHIP WITHOUT A RUDDER.IF ONE IS NOT CLEAR IN HIS MIND ,HE CAN DO NOTHING.IT IS ALWAYS BETTER EITHER  OFFICIAL OR PERSONAL ONE CLEARLY DECIDES THE GOAL AND THE TIME FRAME IT SHOULD BE ACHIEVED.UNDOUBTEDLY IT HELPS IN ACHIEVING THE PLANS.GOAL SETTING IS A MOTIVATIONAL FACTOR TO ACHIEVE WHAT ONE WANTS TO.PERIODIC REVIEW OF PLAN VIS A VIS ACHIEVEMENT WILL HELP TAKE NECESSARY CORRECTIVE ACTION AS AND WHEN REQUIRED OR MID COURSE CORRECTION.

It does work, provided the goals are true and attainable within the resource & the frame work. Merely considering it ,as pointed out here, as a means to fulfill the requirement of audit function, will not yield the requisite outcome.

it is always good to fix a goal and work on that, it does not matter in what filed you are,you can fix of your target customers and prepare your promotional budget and promotional activity according to that and that's all  by fixing the goal you can keep on check of you work progress

In todays corporate world Goal setting plays a vital role. You cannot survive or compete without a goal. And especially in promotion goal setting helps a lot because without a goal you cannot target your customers. The reason they set a goal every year is the taste of customers keeps changes. So by setting goals you can clearly work towards it.
