Toyota Motor said  it was developing anti-drunk driving equipment that would lock the ignition of a vehicle if high levels of alcohol are detected in the driver.  With so much drunk and driving cases that we are seeing these days and many accidents taking place due to this causing damage not only to the person who is driving but also to others due to this.

The above pic shows where the persons photo  is being scanned.

The car has brought some new technology to identify the alcohol levels of the driver, the system features a hand-held breathalyser, equipped with a digital camera, that detects alcohol consumption and then the photographs the driver's face for identification. wow this is some thing great according to me, if the driver tests positive, the system either warns them, or locks the vehicle's ignition depending on the level of alcohol detected.

The new car and the technology is under tests, the carmaker is conducting tests with affiliate truck maker Hino Motors, and will be installing the equipment in selected trucks and other vehicles of fleet customers that include companies and government organisations for the time being.

Not only toyota but also even Nissan Motors is currently developing similar kind of equipment. Even in the United States, many of the states earlier this year passed legislation requiring drunk driving offenders to install breathalyser ignition locks in their cars to avoid unwanted incidents.

As any new technology comes at a price, i guess this will cost more and in a country like India, people don't want their cars to tell them what to do and what not, what do you say??

What are your views on this, will there be any takers for these kind of cars?

According to me this kind of technology we badly need, people who drink & drive they not only put their lives in danger but also others lives also on lines, and if something like this technology is there, it would prevent such incidents and preciour lives will be saved, In a recent survey it is said that India is 3rd in Road deaths across the world and there are many cases booked in this year due to drunk 7 drive cases..so this technology will really help.
