I deny it.....today companies are smarter than the candidate. agreed that they will look at you..but they will scan you so that they can hire the right guy..beauty comes secondary...

Appearance matters alot i do agree with Mr. Shashi and Ms.Jenifer. First impression is the best impression. In most of the companies more than skill they look into the appearance only. Especially for HR profession this suits alot. The companies look at the person whether he/she looks beautiful and pleasing then he/she will get more advantage than others. This what actually happening in companies.

yes,fist impression is the best impression....so your appearance can give a good impression...and skills are are equally important as appearance...but can be developed in the candidate as time goes.... even your appearance speaks a lot about you that can give a positive impression about you and that  be a plus point for u...a person who is skilled but lacks appearance can go unrecognized of his skills

Appearance does matter . It is said that first impression always count . Though after the appearance it is the performance only that matters and after a particular time period it is only the performance .

Well appearance does not help if he does not have brains to show his skills to prospective employer be it employment or for a business. Beauty goes well with intelligence and also brains.

Well..appearance is no doubt a must.If you have that right attitude then half of your job is done.Always, the first impression of a candidate is made by his appearance.This not only helps in building your confidence,but also makes a good rapport.Remember,only having skills will not help much if you don't get the right opportunity to implement them.Again,only appearance is not everything.you have to have both the appearance and good skill in your arsenal.

No Doubt, Appearance is advantage. Mr. Binit I dont think the question is of the importance of Agreement vs. Skills. Mr. Nikhil, also the topic is not about the scenario of Job. In Case of a stranger, always appearance wins over skills. But when you become close to that person it is your skills that becomes more important.

appearence is not a constent phenomenon to relay upon where as skill infact increses with time and experiences.beuty is gifted though but skill is acquired by efforts.ALL COMPANIES are not add or fashion agencies to only see attractive emploies,nation building and other importent areas needs skill more then looks and styles

In long term appearance won't help you, it could help you at the max 30-35 yrs. That's all. you should have a skill to execute or process or domain knowledge to succeed.

Yes Nikhil . I m totally agree with you. Appearance is not the prime factor for any work. It is the knowledge and the skills, on which any organization is based. The way you work and you utilise your skills for the welfare of the organization is more important than the way you look.Appearance id neither the Neceaasary nor Sufficient condotion. You are recognize by your work, the skill you are possess with, the strength of your behavior by which others are influences positively, not the outer beauty you have. If you are blessed with and you carry it beautifully then it is add on.

Yes Mr.Nikhil you are correct. When the good appearance not able to deliver what to do. This does not mean the good looking people can not deliver. But importance should be given to those who are talented and result oriented.

It is synonymous to having a beautiful wife with cooking abilities.so is skills with appearance.Hence both are complimentary to each other.Hence in its isolation the discussion or debate is of no consequence. yet skills play more important though appearance may be compromised considering the result orientation. A good smile on each person at workplace compensates the appearance factor. Kind regards
