I think yes, infront of this ipad laptops looks old fashioned now, and it will be really successfull, not only for computing purposes this ipad also acts as a phone where 3G services and wi-fi connections is made possible and currently in US there through AT&T they are releasing it. and this also acts as a e-book and will really give a tough competition to Amazon's kindle which is leading interms of e-books, so Steve jobs has created another brilliant product from the stable of Apple. With thousands of applications supporting this ipad, will make all the more reason to own one.

i think its a cool device but again it is something like nano which will make buzz but will not gain the expected market bcz though it is light and touch free but still taking over laptops is quite difficult as it is just a new product not an alternative. It lacks various features in comparision to laptops.

Mixed reaction from the community, Apple does real great work with the UI and some features which enhance the overall user experience .That said, iphone , ipod 's etc .. were very successful in their markets but htis one just seems a bigger version of an ipod . Nice to see the embedded devices take all over us , but laptops will surely survive and have a place of their own .The point i feel is when Google Chrome OS starts running on the smallest of devices is when we will see some real competition happen not just with the features of devices (touch screen size , camera's etc...) but with the total impact they have on our time spent "digitally " anyone which is fast, has useful apps , and a good UI will take away on us once again !!

In my opinion an ipad cannot replace laptops why because many techies believe that the Apple ipad has failed to live up to the expectations. No doubt it is a good looking electronic gadget but it lacks basic features. The tablet PC does not support flash Safari, awaited by the users. It does not support full GPS. The device does not have a built camera. It does not run a real OS, does not multi-task, offers no longer facility which can be do much more with netbook that is probably less than the price. The tablet PC uses encryption the same way as it is used on iphone, the data will not be protected. Other concerns include no user replaceable battery, no HDMI (High-definition multimedia interface) support, and no USB port.
