Finding funding for a small business isn't easy. When you're a woman business owner, it can be even more challenging. By some accounts, roughly 30 percent of businesses are woman-owned, but their businesses get a paltry 3 percent of venture capital dollars.

So, my question is are banks biased on the gender of a business owner??

I don't think so all banks have large women staff even holding senior position. So the question of gender biased view does not arise. I personally know women business people doing well even exporting with the help of banks.

I think so. Banks usually don't believe that women can also make business as big as a fortune 500 company. Further there is a perception that women are not smart & intelligent as compared to most men & they are weak & can't handle pressure.

I dont think banks are gender biased. In fact they extend more support to women entrepreneurs, because they meet their committments on time.

In the good old days, womens were not well educated as compared to mens. Due to this fact gents used to get more opportunities. But now a days womens are grabbing creamy layer jobs & to the fact we can see more women entrepreneurs & CEOs in recent times

I am completely agree with Reshmi...I guess woman has more managerial skills than man. Housekeeping is one of the best example in this context..

I don't agree with you Esha....There are many cases where women are preferred against their male counterparts..

There may be women angel investors within many angel groups whom a woman business owner could target. Check the Web sites of angel groups and scan their "team" list to see if women are involved.

No we are not.. not right now. We are still in recovery stage and this time I do not think the same mistake will be repeated. Having tough time is one thing and going back to recession is totally different, we cannot mix them.
