yes, Now a days, doctors only want to earn money. They charge too much only for consulting and ask you to take medicines from outside. Sometimes, they misguide you, so that you can come to them again and again, so that they can charge you more, even for a very small problem.

Dead Yes. Two options should have "Dead Yes" and "Yes". "No" is out of question. All of them are driven by greed, and they are really good at it.

doctor are not to blame as this happens out of market dynamics. Now as the supply of medicines has outpaced demand, pharma companies are not only competing on the basis of services but also caring. The care part spreads to all kinds of obligations including monetisation of every prescription.I feel, in such a scenario govt support to medical institutes in terms of subsidised fees and tax rebates ,are to be discussed so the feeling that we are giving these doctors lots of financial support but in return they are acting like any citizen of the society.Draw a balance so that there is no hard feelings. Also i will also say that whatever happens ,doctors dont compromise on their patient's health.

Doctor's profession should be viewed as a "Noble Profession" - a High Cost economy to become a Great Doctor! How can one expect a person who spends close to Rs.50 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore become a well-trained world-class specialist in his own domain to work for charity! "Money Begets Money" - they spend a lot to earn a lot! In the modern medical advancement, unless a doctor learns the nuances of the modern techniques applied throughout the world, even the commoners treat them as a rural guy confined to local treatment. Government should evolve a strategy to use them and pay them well so that they are taken care of properly! Until such things happen, these doctors would turn their profession into a money-making proposition only!

Yes, but they are not alone. If the race is to run after money, regardless of fouls committed in race why single out Doctors. They are still not reflecting full capability in fouled race as there still are many who follow hipocrates oath to last word. Can we as well safely say the same about people in governance about their respective oath. What most appear failing to take notice to is danger from potholes in road, thanks to corrupt engineer or contractor or missing nuts and bolts in safety mechanism which are as much or even more lethal. We tend to ignore all indirect consequences of corruption.

Yes by all means. Those companies who pay most get all their products sold fast. Who cares for the patient. We shall learn and practice sathvik food and grandma method of medicinal foods. Never visit a drug / pharmacy. Better to die than getting multiplied by modern medicines. Hardly there is any medicine without side effects.

No doubt! who is not corrupt in India? India gone materialist way. How it comes is not the important but How much you have is. And doctors are not different from it. There are lot of ways to do it, cut from pharmacy store,Lab, promo from Pharma, unnecessary tests med. After all he has to foot/recover the his educational expenditure which is exorbitant and corrupt.Oh! insurance, welcome cow to be milked generously. Clinical trial is one more guinea pig. He has to cover the crores of investments made to run nursing home, at least cover the interest to be paid ete by any (dubious) means, opting for only expensive ways of operations, tests ... Of course he needs to maintain high standard of lifestyle in fast moving India. When no one is or was prosecuted for this practice it is all encouraging and tempting to dare. without proof and papers Patients are moot guinea pig in lawless India.

The power they have is the power on life. This can make they feel supernatural. And beyond rules. The fact is that the necessary premise of any true health care is compassion towards a peer being under common rules, not towards an inferior one from above the treetops. That's to say that medicine will be acceptable when it gets to be a "specific field of right" before anything else and it is payed between normal people, both physicians and patients. To do this, the key is to prevent that any healthcarers could simply think to have special powers as far as to be always thanked just for existing.

Promotional lobbying is legal in America. We cant call it as corruption. But, as far as India is concerned it is corrupt practice. Promoting drugs is not a sin. But, what is unethical here is doctors prescribing the medicines in huge quantity though they are not even required for the cure of the ailment. Its kind of aggressive promotion. There is an allegation that doctors are prescribing costly investigation tests even for a small ailment and exploiting the patients and their family duly conniving with the pathological laboratories. People are scared about Hospitals and doctors.

Money is the thing that everybody in the world wants.Money sometimes makes one do unsavory things for EX:Match Fixing. However I agree with Bindu that the Pharmaceuticals should legitimize the fess paid to Doctors by making it official like say Professional services rendered.Doctors are highly respected all over the world for saving lives and should continue doing so unaffected by such allegations and keep their slate clean

Doctors cannot be blamed because they are just doing their jobs..because to be short and precise by doing our duties properly and money comes to us on itself , thats nothing wrong in it. but we r not running behind the money by leaving or running away from duties. AS we r here to serve the people and get benefited from it also, by which we can also help the needy,

I think pharmaceutical companies are to blame at; because these companies don’t have confidence in their Products & People. And the ratio of the doctors who will be prescribing those medicines over their knowledge will be less to the genuine doctors. And who cares if you will be fine after taking medicines. And if not, you can consult with different doctors or even Medical shops. Thank You Docs! For the work you guys are doing. And for more praise you have to bribe me with good medicine…uhh…aaahhh chiiii……

According to me Its not only the doctors corrupted by money.....Corruption occurs every where, in every field....Its because Money is the root of all evil for those who take advantage of people who are good. Money is evil when it is put into the hands of those who don't care about anyone other than themselves.....

the quest of money is for everyone few people may be obsessed to it but as a community it will be not fair enough to project corrupt. the question revert back to Teacher doing tution?? politician, police, officers, etc taking bribe. scientists attributed to treachery & inhuman activities? engineers involved in poor & lethal constructions? border security personal bribed to cross border?? every person providing bribe to get the work done?? ARE ALL THEY CORRUPT OR SOMEONE IS BIGGER CORRUPT THAN OTHER?? WHICH IS GOOD CORRUPTION?? DOCTORS AT LEAST INVOLVED IN LIFE SAVING THOUGH MAKING MONEY NOT TRYING TO KILL OR DISTORT THE SOCIETY PERSONAL & FABRIC.

Corruption is all in the mind and is not exclusive to doctors. Its about how vulnerable an individual is to the lure of money. Both pharma companies and laboratories give out referrals to the doctors who prescribe their drug or send samples to their lab. this is reasonable in the light of business ethics and disclosure of the percentage they get is not necessary. if any disclosure is required, then to whom? to the public?, because its eventually their money. If that were the case then an ordinary shop keeper or a dealer will also have to disclose his gains right from a pen to name anything that he/she sells. (Even MSDhoni will have to declare the % he gets for endorsing products like pen etc... :-), because every time you buy a product he endorses a % goes to him) Lets accept, even noble profession like being a doctor is a business in a way, atleast in the present world scenario. Its upto the doctor him/herself to draw a line from falling in to the lure of money and the nobility of the service that he/she renders to the living beings. Just having found or exposed few vulnerables, doesnt mean all those pursuing this profession are equally tainted or corrupt.
