I agree with Dr Ali that our doctors are paid less perticularly who they are attached to Government bodies. In privte Corporate hospital the trend has been changed by Appolo Group. Here I belive the doctors earn well since they get either a minmum guarantee or a percentage of the amount they earn for the hospital. Every thing said and done our doctors are paid less.

A good topic Dr Ashish Doctors are one of the most under paid professionals today. The understanding about doctors is that it is their duty to serve humanity, I do agree with this, but people should understand that doctors are hard working people. They are answerable to a lot of people because some one’s life is depending in their hands. A doctor at times neglects his home and family just to save the life of a person whom he doesn’t even know and might never get to know. It is shameful that some people do not pay them for their services, or just bargain with them for the service charges.

i dont know with whom you are comparing ,and saying underpaid, government is spending so much money for intellect to make them doctors, that expenditure is money of Indians not mere amount of fees paid by student,if they have problem for survival then only they raise issue,if govt is providing doctors santro and they are expecting bmw then i say think, think we are developing not developed, issue should be raised the amenities provided in civil hospitals are enough, objective of healthy India should be achieved or not,or to what extent or future plans to make it better

It is endless debate. Nobody can prove about a particular field are getting more or other not. What about the Army men?? Are they getting more?? They are also doing different but hard work for country. Again an example of inequality nothing else. Sone doctors are getting too much while all are not....

When doctors opt for services , it matters not the money but the service he renders to human-being. The role & the criteria changes with the world change. It, gradually, slips into a domain of business not considered as service anymore. It is where the comparrision of pay & working condition starts. Recently a demand was put up to CM, Tamilnadu, to fix the rate for various services rendered by doctors at various facilities. Because there is a wide range of anamolies at various clinic. No criteria fixed yet for what service what amount is to be charged. For example, you will see for the simple lab-test, the prices are too orbitrate. Similarly, the consulting charges varies indiscrimenately. Doctors need to have conscience while delivering the service. Population needs cost effective rich remeady. I do not think that doctors are on the street due to meager salary. Everybody needs to have justification in one stage or other. In this regard, I feel that they are comfortable & REWARDED recognition every where by people.Money is not going to compensate his service. Its only a honoririum for the noble cause he delivers to the society.

Well... In my opinion, diagnosis is a service that is being given by doctors. But, how much they are being paid should not be a question to such a respectful discipline. In this way many arguments can be made. A plumber, a waiter, a house maid, a driver... these people do a lot of technical hard work... people make use of their services because they cannot do this work on their own... So these class of people are also highly under paid in our country. In fact, labor - both skilled/ unskilled are under paid in India. So does that mean that everyone should do some aandolan to get a pay raise?? Growth is not suborbital to pay... the kind of work done by a doctor is like a skill given to him by God... it should not be compared with money....

In my opinion most of the doctors are paid enough for the service they are providing. The self-employed doctors who own or are part owners of their medical practice generally have higher median incomes than salaried physicians. Earnings may vary according to number of years in practice, geographic region, hours worked, and skill, personality, and professional reputation.
