yes! employees rights are being protected in private as well as government, but employees itself doesn't support for their rights, they are happy in whatever they are getting and working like robots, like watever boss says they will do,if an each an individual will understand their rights in proper manner, then things will become superb ,and really they all will enjoy their work..................as whistle blower is one concept ,but it also takes 180 to 300 days to complain to federal in terms of private sector.............hence better we all should understand our responsibility and should prior to know all our rights as an employees.

Yes, it has been a bane for the employees irrelevant of those working in Government or Private sectors in finding difficulty to obtain leaves (even as per stipulation). Lack of enough hands, over burdening of employees, disparity in pay, benefits, etc., continues to haunt all the workers. Even the employee unions have remained a mute spectator these days. Even employees working as contract labourers in the government sector are facing lot of problems forcing many to quit jobs. What needs to be done is a million dollar question to be answered.

I agree with the claim of Mr. Manoj that employee rights are not protected particularly in the private sector. Most of the private sector employees are directed by the doctrine “employment at will”. This holds that both employer and employee have the freedom to end a working relationship without prior notice or explanation. A better example is the denial of employee rights and benefits when employment is terminated, such as when workers are discharged through layoffs or getting fired ... which was the cry during the great recession.

Dear Kishore and other debators, How can possibly Government and Private sector be put in single sentence? Second no one is talking about the biggest number that is non-organised or daily wage worker the one who is actually always at the receiving end and all types of terms like "Bandhua" etc. are used to address shamelessly in FREE INDIA. The Government staff is overly in fact excessively pampered and as a result this non-organised sector never ever was or is in focus. So actually only MIGHT, IS RIGHT. - Thanks for invite Manoj,

I may not be the right person to answer this, but I don't think employee rights are being protected either in Govenment or the private sector for that matter. And even employees also don't bother about these things, they tend to do whatever they are being told and never stand up for a thing, and in the workplace people just follow stuff and they dont bother to stand up and ask questions and are really hesitant when it comes to employee rights.
