The major reason is the employers themselves are totally dishonest or driven to dishonesty. They lack vision and many a times the way in which they fudge the accounts is unbelievable. This naturally will make a dishonest employee more dishonest. Lack of values at workplace is one of the major areas of concern. However, you should know that it is not in our culture to be dishonest. We learned it from foreign rulers~ who in their native countries are honest but when comes to India ready to loot.

its true where strong management tools are availabel higher management people has the key in there hands and big blunders are also occuring in higher good organisation because of which the smaller cadre employee has developed the mentality that without doing cooruption or fraud or aking money by wrong mean job is not possible, therefore multinatinal strategy and management tools and stronglt required to mend these problems which are very common, rather in govt dept.it is surely impossible because of the vote bank, selfcenterde policy of the chair holder.

In a system where righteous approach is a stumbling block for growth and development, people tend to use the tool of "Deceit". The so called clean " corporate giants", would not have got to the status where they are currently in without getting involved in malpractices and adjustments. In our country, without greasing palm, nothing moves. The so-called major industries, with otherwise clean image in the society, do involve in all wrongs in getting the major projects, whether from the Government or otherwise. When it comes to the involvement of employees within, they sulk about it. We need to address the very definition of "Fraud". If it happens at an employee level, its publicised and made untenable to tolerate, whereas at the sustainable level of the corporates in the fierce competitive environment, the very definition changes! This applies to all the industries and verticals, including Governmet PSUs. We have recently seen the fight between SEBI and IRDA on ULIP! Are they above board? We have to ruminate and ponder over!

he perception of an increase in fraudulent activities in India within private business establishments and public institutions in the last two years, does not appear to be unfounded, the KPMG Fraud Survey Report 2010 confirmed this today. An overwhelming majority of the respondents (75%) indicated that the overall incidence of fraud is rising thereby indicating that India Inc needs to deal with fraud risks firmly. Survey responses specifically from the financial services and consumer markets industry segments feel a higher level of fraudulent activities within their industry. The survey also indicates "procurement" and "sales and distribution" to be the most vulnerable areas across industries susceptible to fraud risk.

Taking a very optimistic approach I completely agree with abhijeet. I know that the frauds existed earlier and they would continue to be there.. but what most we can do as an individual is that atleast we should not be part of such acts. However this also has to be coupled with more regulations and importantly more awareness. And as rightly cited by abhijeet, the organisations like SEBI, RBI and others are doing their bit deligently doing all possible things to curb malacious activities. Considering the huge indian population, wide economical disparity and lack of awareness such steps would take time to show tangible results but surely it will happen. Moreover grass root programs like Unique ID will tremendously help in curtailing frauds and corruption.

It not only Top management is responsible to become a yard stick for corporates but Goverment should keep close eye on each on every investment made by the corporates.

we cannot talk a section of community is froudlent, the corruption is deep rooted in the Indian Society, employees are also a part of the society, The polititians, Employers, and even Babas doing things to tarnish the society so frouds in the employee society comparing to others is much less. I am not encouraging this but there sould be a total change required in the society"s aproach to others
