As the recent terrorist activities which unfolded in Mumbai and which has sent shock waves all over the world, where support is coming from all over the world and condemning such devastating act where so many lives were lost, and while i am writing this still the rescue operation is going on to rescue people from the Taj and the Oberoi Trident hotels, the Five star hotels not only in the country but all over the world have become soft targets for terrorist activities, Just because there are so many people around. So what do you think, Are Hotels safe anymore??

For me hotels are safe as they were before.

If we consider hotels are no more safe because of what happened in MUMBAI then take my words, there is no place in this world which is safer. You might face one or the other problem in one or the other way.

i really dont understand why people are acting so strange...??? if im not wrong there only a few times or probably once where the TERRORISTS have captured a hotel for the mission... can anyone tell me which other hotel was captured and when in india....??? jus because this incident occured in Mumbai no one can claim that such mishaps will occur in future because now since the all the countries are RED ALERT   NO FOOLISH TERRORIST WILL EVER THINK TO SATY IN HOTEL IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR DAMN MISSION....

so what i suggest is

STOP COMPLANING START ACTING...!!!

I COMPLETELY AGREE THAT-

HOTELS ARE STILL THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE AND SO DOES INDIA.....

SO THINK PRACTICAL AND BE REALISTIC GUYS...!!!

Terrorism in India is at best a political weapon in the hands of politicians.  I am not saying that we should not anticipate and take care.  We should improve general anti-terrorism environment.  We must create hindrances for terrorists.  They should not take this action very lightly.  However, if a terrorist act occurs, we should take it in our stride.  If someone is found careless in action or speach as happened in Shivaraj Patil's case, he should be condemned.

Having said this, I am very appreciative of the public stance India has taken on the Mumbai attack.  There is lot of pressure on Pakistan now.  I am also appreciative of P Chidambaram's stand that we will punish Pakistan with economic sanctions.

In these, our message will be loud and clear.  You will not create an impact so great, by the terrorist act, but you will be punished in many ways, if you try to threaten our sovereignity.

That way when you look at it, Pakistan had more to lose by Mumbai Attack than India - please do not misunderstand me for the valuable lives lost.  When we take up a defence services employment, we anticiate to sacrifice and through our sacrifices, achieve good things for the country.  This has now happened and this could only be a motivator for our armed forces.

A person who has sacrificed his life or his kith and kin, however, can not hold a government or government functionary into emotional or political ransom, as happened in the case of the Kerala Chief Minister - which is condemnable.

I agree to Nirmal's comments and would like to add that apart from people being vigilant, the government authorities should also learn to be equally responsive

Yes the Hotels are safe in every standard, but my question is can you make out terrorists in Public, India being such a huge country with different cultures and all other things one can't be sure like when such a disaster would strike, So its just that the government should take appropriate measures to cut down on terrorist activities and ppl should be vigilant all the time is my suggestion, To me Hotels are safe and sound

Before I contribute views,I should congratulate the US for achieving a perfect 10 in tackling terrorists.  Perhaps, it is only the US where it could be done.

It is impossible in India.  Our polity is peculiar.  Hindus and Muslims are integrated into our society.  In Karnataka and Orissa another dimension has been added with attack on Christians too.  In Maharashtra it is non-marati sentiment which is dominant.  Andhra has a different problem.  Bihar should yet come into the mainstream.

Whatever you do, when one expresses a view in a gathering of a particular community  that those terroriizing that community have to be repaid in kind, not even a fraction of our populace deem it fit to report to the police.  They may not support but they dont complain against them.

India is a huge country.  It is impossible to create a culture against terrorism.  If 20% are proactive to control terrorism, 50% are neutral - they dont express any view at all.  10% can be influenced to either view and 20% are fanatics.  What can the government do?

Why hotels?  No place in India is safe.  I am an ex-employee of Indian Institute of Science.  The atmosphere there is so serene but it was attacked.  Terrorists want to make a statement.  They choose their targets meticulously.  They plan their attack. Compared to that our anti-terrorism measures are general in nature.  There is no signs of control in the near future.  No government can produce results like US.

However, we can start issuing Identification to everyone in the country.  We can demand identification at every stage.  We can use bio-metrics for identification.  We can encourage email and non-cash transactions.  We can provide incentives for transparency in business.  We can conduct online transactions.

The argument that computer literacy is not widespread does not hold water.  We can generate lacs of employment to deploy people to educate and provide service in this sphere.

We should solve Kashmir/naxalite problem.  We should make a statement there.  We should flush out terrorists there.  We should not allow anyone to enter the border without identification.  We should use space technology to monitor cross border infiltration.

After all this, perhaps we can demand that terrorism should be reduced.

NO it is not safe any more to me, with bombings in Bali which took more than 200 lives and then bombings in Pakistan at the marriot where so many lives were lost and now in India in Mumbai which happened recently, so it is a serious concern for me and others who visit hotels regularly on their work and leisure. So safety is big concern for one and all.

According to me No the hotels are not safe any more the 3 star hotels and other small hotels are not the priority for these terrorists, they are mainly targetting Five star hotels, just because there are ppl from different nationals, and solely due to this reason the Hotels have become soft targets for the terrorists, So hotels are not safe anymore...

I also agree to Nirmal, It will work in India. India is changing and so its people and their trends. Now when we are accepting all new trends then why not this. People would love to have a health treatment or stress free massage on a holiday.

Apart from the above discussed ideas related to frontline management, backend processes can also help in improving the efficiency. Efficiency is nothing but the ratio of output by input, therefore, if you we reduce the generetion of waste it will...

I do agree with Sushil, more organised the management is, the service will be much better. They will be sure with what work is to be done by whom and hence processes would be carried out smoothly.
