There have been and still are several politicians who are concerned of environment. However, we arguers here - how many of us are really concerned about the environment and do our bit than just argue out here? That should be the question I guess. It's NOT the politician who sets the ball rolling. It's us - the general public - which sets it in motion and then would the politician pick it up and take it forward. So, who among is doing it committedly?

Charles, you set a good example, but not relevent to this. Because, green solutions are not revenue generating oriented, hence machinery declined towards it. But question is that, why we are sleeping...why we pay the taxes and all.. why we do not go to judiciary that machinery and Govt is declined towards green solution. Where we are... what is the use of our education if we are not able to serve to society. I am also one of the part of people whose are declined.. and simply says that I boke down with my profession hence cannot spare time for this social cause. Simple is that it is not giving any monetory benefits to me.. Sorry for that but its only the reality.

I agree with Mr. Aras. The govt has been instrumental in launching a green initiatives / s, but it has failed to take off because we as individuals have not been ptoactive in the programme. We also have this civic responsibility to drive the initiatives and make it a movement!! But as citizens we have failed too! I remember a video that was launched with BigB, Shilpa Shetty and some other prominent BTown actors. As we Indians do, we discussed the video and talked to glory be about it... Did we participate or act on it?? NO... So why blame the tree alone when the root itself is not strong!! People are the most important form of the democratic govt and we elect the govt, so we are responsible equally. Thanks for the referral Beena

Nice topic Charles. But we have to think that even if the politicians are not aware we should make them aware and induce them to proceed in this way ,as politicians always search path where they will get fame ,both at national and international level.I feel this topic will make them more famous if they come ahead and add the topic in their lectures to general public. This is the easiest way to make public aware of green world I can say.In this way both politicians and public will be benefitted, as a result we will win in getting a greener world. What is your opinion!

Yes Charles you are right it is not represented in the parliament by the elected rep to convert into policies but I don't think Indian politicians will decline to accept Green environment unless and until it will harm to India's growth to a great extent. Considering the present situation, if India will accept the proposed norms of 2% reduction in global temperature in order to control climate change and green environment India has to forgo his future growth potential. I think Indian politicians should not accept the proposed norms because it is going to hamper India's future growth in a big way.

Beena,You have a point that this topic should be added in their speeches to public.since they run behind fame. How do we do that.how can we sustain that. First and the main thing is to instill into them the benefits of having such speeches. Second Aras has pointed out that young and educated are in the parliament so it will be easy. But we haven’t seen any inclination on their part till now towards this issue. A general thinking is that Govt has started movement to make green but the machinery’s negligence to implement it.I do ask whose responsibility is it ,if there was movement initiated by the Govt to implement? I will take an example here. The govt creates policies on income tax and goes all out to implement it.Advertisements in papers, TV etc etc and the machinery is hell bent to see that max people are in the tax net.The means are like PAN card link to each transcation,Tin number etc.It has made sure that if you are alive ,you tag along and abide with the policy. So the machinery is driven to excel/execute/extract by the GOVT. That is the level of importance we need as well as Govt need to implement, what is needed are hard approach and regulations because it is late already and we need to salvage nature before it has gone beyond retractable limits. Left to participation only ,you don’t get anything because everyone is in the rat race of working to finish everything yesterday. There isn’t time . - But if you need to pay something like say self assessed house tax and need to clarify something you will take a days off go to the concerned office and sort out to make it minimum. if there is a regulation on rain water harvesting /solar heater/x % solar power etc compulsory and the list some items pertaining to green India mandatory for availing certain things only then we Indians will start implementing and accepting thereby putting into practice and achieving the result.
For that we as citizens need to start a signature campaign for sustaining green reforms and for introducing polices for the same towards Green India Please opine.

Yes Charles I totally agree with you.. i have never heard or seen any politician talking about Green buildings , environment, neither have read any politician giving interview about it. i think the media should take more initiative in this matter and in turn the matter should be brought in the parliament, making laws implementing to all the concern activities.

I agree with Mr. Dixit's point. Majority of our politicians don't even know what is "Green" technology means. And I think they are least bothered about environment it it effects their income...
