My experience of working with Indians from India, is that a large majority (not all, before you jump down my throat) expect crazy money when looking for an overseas positions (For eg: UK, Singapore, Australia, US etc).

I have to work tirelessly to manage expectations, so that they do not price themselves out of the market. I agree the salary in mature markets is more than that paid in India, however candidates have to consider the below macro-points as well as their own experience, before they make certain demands:

1- Economics- supply/demand of labour in that country

2- Economy- Recession/Boom

3- Market rates in that country (there will be a benchmark)

4- Competition

5- Local market knowledge

Being a fellow Indian, i want to see Indian nationals prosper globally, however a sensible approach is needed, so that they are not priced out of the market, and branded as being arrogant.

Agree or Disagree?
