I agree. I feel, we often miscalculate the economics behind life. We need money for better things in life but then don't let the good things go. I know a bunch of guys who fails to understand how IPL in itself is so cash churning, that they don't need to have match fixing. Thus match fixing is not a part of IPL. In our argument, I found one of them was adamant that business is nothing but pursuit to earn money by any means. Just about any business. He refused to understand, the passion of people who choose to entrepreneur rather then working for some company. When I see that, I can only say He and such people are money obsessed. What do you say?

If we just refer ourself in the stastics of indians investing in gold, stocks and real estate we are really obsessed with money and materialsitc things of comfort. If we just reflect on our culture we see our extenended family system, joint family system has just collapsed due to lack of intrest and increase in making money. The nuclear family system is just obessed with more and more....... leading to believe that money is everything.

Yes the Indians are obsessed about money and it can be contributed due to many factors:- 1)Need to spend considerable money in family events such as marriage, festivals. We spend a hell lot of money for the jewels and marriage events and it certainly need to planned right from birth of daughters / sons 2) Saving the money is our part of life because we want till our grandchildren to benefit from our earnings.. 3) Status of individual is being based on the money he has. When a person gains more money he automatically gets a premium status and easy access to areas which is difficult for common people. 4) Raising cost of living and uncertain future also contribute to earn more money and save for future

Indians have lived poor or many of them lived below poverty line for more than Thousand years........hunger for money is definitely there.........we are now saying we are self sufficient..........but today no service is available without investing money..........people look for security and die for money..........everyone right from Top hierarchy to the bottom level have to maintain their level.....apprehensions are there..........comforts have not reached to the grass root level........Public welfare programmes are seldom checked for performance and their effectiveness...........an individual is living with himself/herself.......Togetherness is missing ........today if we can build skyscrapers in no time then we can also build human oriented life with basic necessities guaranteed for every one.....the motive of the life for the average Indian is to earn the bread and not to put dynamic actions on his creative ideas.........

Youth may be chasing money. But we survived the recession and our banks did not go burst clearly shows Indians are not after ONLY MONEY.

Indians value culture more than other societies. A recent survery had indicated that Indians were the least stressed during recession. One can't generalize things based on a few incidents. Money is important in today's society, but not everybody is obsessed with money. There are many people who are professionals in their field, and it's these people who will take things a long way for our country.

I dont think indians especially youth are so obsessed with money. Sure comparing with older generation more people are now a days getting enough opportunity to earn money. But it is not only for money but to develop their inborn skills, to utilize the spare time in a productive way and most importantly not to depend on parents for their day to day life unlike in the past.

No .... that should not be. If we are obsessed with MONEY (only) , our lives / family / society might be destroyed. It does not mean : there may not be requirement of money in our lives. Sorry 2say, in recent times, a section of members of Middle Class, is thinking otherwise. In a situation where money ONLY is counted :- --- We may like to join Terrorist groups who pay hefty amount for their activities ( we say crimes ) --- We may become "supari-kellers" who are paid handsome amounts ( again for crimes) --- We may join them who resorts to "abductions" - easy money may be available --- We may join Spy / Espionage groups to endenger our own country - handsome amt is paid --- We may become "Adultrators" who earn huge money by mixing bad items in foods even medicine
