These days, Patents have been around for a while now and have Patent Infringement Lawsuits. Most of them wrangle on for years in the confines of a court, without ever breaking into mainstream media unless there is a monumental judgement involved.

This ‘flattening’ of the Innovation world has made the Big Boys realise that they are more vulnerable than ever. Patents are being used less to protect what you have and more to prevent the competition from catching up. Thanks to that, the technology industry is now sitting on a Patent Minefield, new entrants, old timers alike have to tread to very carefully to avoid stepping over these imaginary patent lines.

so users, do you also agree that patents Stifling Innovation?

Of course the subject is interesting. We have to be balanced.Regarding innovation we should use more of solar energy, Windmill power town and village level. Saving energy is only is short time adjustment. instead we should go new method to produce more power with limited resources. Regarding global warming and other pollutants, we should plant more trees and to create good environment for the future generations. K Rajagopalan.

I agree that patents are stifling innovation. The reason being, the system in place have allowed patents to involve into an exclusionary right. Until the system is fixed to reward innovation and invention instead of litigation, many more Patent Infringement Lawsuits can be seen. Many of the products may not hold good back home, but in the coming years it could very well be.

I am of a different viewpoint on this topic. Patent encourages and promotes innovation as the innovator gets a sense of pride and recognition which furthers people zest to find new solutions and ways......Innovation. New ideas should always get protection and recognition because improvisation and alteration is comparitively easier.
