It is entirely possible that one person may describe an individual as difficult and another may see it completely differently. Equally, individuals may behave differently towards different people, consequently it is important to understand that so-called difficult people may not be difficult at all. What is required when dealing with difficult people is to adapt to individual behaviour.

To a motivator / leader, no body is different - cant say what HR people think.

Yes, the highly intellectual people, though few in numbers may "look different". Often we have seen that the  artists, researchers, inventors, sport persons, performing artists etc ( not known initially )  react to things in a different style. But the leaders know how to handle them and get the best from them.

Red heads can never do good to themselves neither to anybody. Everything is seen in negative terms with problems everywhere and with everything. They focus on what they don't have.Very detailed oriented people may not perform tasks or have only completed part of it because they have not understood intent.

They focus on very specific details and may arrive at an unexpected conclusion. Their planning may be very detailed about particular tasks but not extend to the overall objective.

So, Ithink they don't perform better than normal employees.

Domination comes out of high perfomance and high expectation from co-workers to do the same. For them high performance is everyday thing like commonsense but which infact is uncommon.

Achievers will definitely expect some recognition at least tho not any reward.having achievers is only good for any organisation.Only thing they have to be handled rightly.

Yes obviously...they have cent percent dedications towards the job assigned to them and always follow a proper plan to convert it into reality. They hardly feels about the good or bad, but they surely do the right thing whatever time and situation permits. Hence while doing so, they may not be always right but they are never wrong..

Difficult people or mavericks can be either out of the box thinker or dumb-head. Most difficult people are exceptionally intelligent beyond the peers and bosses.

they see the things what you cant see, they achieve what you cant achieve. they are in league of extra ordinary. Handling them is quite easy if you understand them

and satisfy their ego only to reap a rich harvest. Some time they  lack social/interpersonal tools, give them space let them understand set up and how it works, and what is expected of them. Also never fails to rewards or awards for thier contribution. If they have your trust every thing will be easy. Never try to discipline them expect only result and it will be worthy.

Depends on why those people are difficult. Are they difficult because of their attitude to others and to themselves? Or are they difficult owing to that being their psychological state? If they are difficult in their attitude then they are simply more demanding of others and of self. In other words, they don't suffer fools. They should be manageable with a sensitivity. If being difficult is their predominant psychological state then it may be too difficult to manage them even with sensitivity.

I agree with this, especially the statement - "Great people dominate by virtue of their ideas / knowledge and their intelligence / wisdom ; difficult people dominate by virtue of their personality."

Red head people either suffer psychological problems or are incompetent or both, its bulling, for commercial venture they act as poison some times poison is antidote to poison, provided you  are playing around with lot of snakes,  in MNC’s such people are shown the door at the first place they are not called for an interview.

I support your statement, Diya.

These people have mindset for everthing they do/perform, so they hardly do anything good to others.

I support your statement, Diya.

Red heads have typical mindset for everything they do.

So they hardly do anything good for others.

I would like to turn this argument on its head , and ask a different question : What is common to the following people :

Rabindranath Tagore , Visveswaraya , Radhakrishnan , Mahatma Gandhi , Sachin Tendulkar , the list can go on

None can deny that these are all people who have achieved success , even greatness in their respective fields.

All of them had this in common - a sense of humility. Difficult people may achieve a lot , but that is due in great measure to the fact that difficult people will , in general , surround themselves with sheep , so that they can dominate them.

Great people dominate by virtue of their ideas / knowledge and their intelligence / wisdom ; difficult people dominate by virtue of their personality. The latter cannot sustain itself for long. Sooner or later , such people will reach a dead end.

Whichever way you chose, you will probably come across people who are technically competent at what they do, but due to their attitude they are mud. One should only  rate them  as low performers. Their attitude will be the undoing of your team - their technical brilliance is null and void as they only sag the spirit of the team.If you have someone who is delivering results but not living your team's values the wisest thing you can do is to relieve them in the long run.
