Indian Television Industry has viewers from a huge diverse background of viewers from different cultures and tradions and thus, keeping in view their languages and understanding. The Regional channels flourished along with a multitude of Hindi channels and a few English channels. By 2001 HBO and History Channel were the other international channels to enter India.

By 1999–2003, other international channels such as Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, VH1, Disney and Toon Disney came into foray. In 2003 news channels started to boom. But still there are many corners in India where people don't understand either of Hindi or English thus relying only on regional channels. English channels today are popular mostly in urban sectors and in cities. So, in this regard, I would like to ask you all, are Regional channels on par with English channels in India?

most of the programmes which are telecasted in regional channels have a lot of similarity with the english channels, consider the case of news channels the way of presenting the news is exactly same as of english channels, where is the innovation, and creativity, its all copy paste type, vewirs encourage newthings, but there is no new thing in it, its all a mad race out there diluting the talent and bringing the standards below par. this argument is same when it comes to the english channels to the international channels. we are proud to say that its a 10000 crore industry but what is the use when its only business oriented rather than necessity oriented.

Programmes in English channels are more advanced, diverse, technically advanced, Qualitative and Knowledge giver. The quality of programme coming in Channels like History channel, Discovery channel, National geographic channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, VH1, Disney, Toon Disney and many more channels are not found in any of the regional languages. They consists mainly of local news and few serials which are nowhere at par with English channels.
