The Indian Premier League's new guidelines for the media have upset news channels and other media organizations. News channels have decided to boycott the IPL after their talks with the IPL and the official broadcaster SET Max over telecast of match footage collapsed

SET Max, which has paid Rs 8,700 crore for exclusive broadcast rights for 10 years, calls the new rules fair. It argues that the 2008 guidelines were not adhered to by some broadcasters who screened the match footage indiscriminately, causing a "major loss" to it. Media organizations say the IPL cannot dictate terms to them.

So friends, do you think the new IPL broadcast rules unfair?

Yes, IPL rules are unfair. It do affect the media and it will surely be unfair to the media. IPL is trying to cash each and every little thing they are getting from it so it should be stopped as soon as possible. Sony paid money for telecast and they can set the any rules of showing the fottage. News channels can show the score and result. But IPL needs to understand the hype and marketing news channels create to IPL. It is free publicity. Without much publicity PHL and ICL are dead now.

I think IPL rules are fair. News channels are supposed to deliver NEWS. Footage of any event may constitute a part of the specific news. There can be good news presentation without any footage. This is a little too much they are practically banning people getting to see IPL anywhere accept MAX the regulations should be a little more relaxed they own the broadcast rights not the game. Setting up 24hrs News Channel needs more news, that doesn't mean you pick up anything you wish. Get better content for news
