Are there enough job opportunities for MBA graduates in the market? We hear top authorities of big companies recruiting freshers from different B-Schools, but do they really focus on all cadres of students equally?? One side we see the students of top 10 colleges getting lucrative salary packages and at the other end we see students not even getting minimum salary that would justify their MBA degree.

Is it that only College name is important and not what potential a student has in him/her???

If you want to get a good Job, Then yes College name is more important. It is obvious as when we reach companies they tell we go to ABC only or B,K only. It is so because the good students select the college in that order only. Then why should the companies again waste their time in going to all the colleges. In USA its altogether different. Then comes next, quality of students. If you are good and wanna prove, you have always a chanc but you may take time, if by sheer miss, you landed up in B-grade college.

Also when we ask B-grade or 2nd tier college then which colleges come. There are still lot of colleges claiming top 10, then everyone else claims them to be in top 20. Companies take judgement from their own experience rather than going in all this confusion.

i totally agree with MR.Saurabh singh that degree is important at the time of entering corporate world..right, but what if the student is not getting right start only because of the college standards or image of college or whatever about college. One thing is very clear that these days it is very difficult to get a job for MBA freshers cause employers have choice of experienced people available in market. If one goes on himself to search job although he is a good candidate he is not entertained the way any good college student is..its totally about start you can show potential only if you start with where you can grow..then comes the matter of surviving.and obviously the person learns ,grows, and becomes competitive after getting exposure ..which is possible for one only  after getting a good break and this is where a college plays a role, colleges help student to get it with making tie ups with good companies.

I think College Name is important here for me, as most of the companies go for Institutions which are really well reputed and has produced really good students from its campuses, and here the Name of the college helps as most of the companies go for recruitment in these colleges.....as companies are sure of getting best talent in the bigger pool which comprises of other colleges also...eg., in the cases of IIMs and IITs and the IISc which are the premier institutes in the country....

Lakshmi i think it  does matter that from which college You belongs. Skills And potential can be gain with the hard work and dedication. but we can not build brand name equal to top colleges.

So we need to be focused and dedicated toward our goals.

let thing happen success gonna we yours.

According to my opinion, big companies ahould focus of 2nd tier colleges and their students as well ,cos even those colleges produce students of good caliber and potentials who are eager to prove themselves in the corporate world. They also deserve chance from the corporate world to show their potentials.
