In a recent news article where K. Radhakrishnan the new ISRO chairman was addressing a gathering at the IIMB alumnus where he said today, employees are highly career conscious, especially younger generation. They don't mind changing jobs too often if it helps them earn more and grow faster. They are ready to shift their loyalties for an extra buck, an additional bonus or any other monetary consideration.

And he gave an example of himself where "In 1971, he had two interviews on the same day and one was in IBM and the other was in Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC). Even though the salary in VSSC was just one fourth of the other firm I still decided to be here and that decision made me what I am today."

So, what do you think guys, are today's youngsters choosing jobs just for the sake of money? What are your thoughts on this..

Yes we can see that trend, job hopping has become a trend in most of the organizations and organizations are struggling to make amends interms of attrition levels in the company, also the employee loyalty is missing these days from youngsters, they are here for just one reason to earn more and more money even if they are doing a good job and are having a great future there that doesn't make any sense to them and leave the organization just for hike in money, today's youngsters fall way behind interms of loyalty towards an organization, the organization spends so much on their training and other aspects and by the time they deliver, they leave the organization, and organizations without strong employee policy or law have to give away their employees for this trend that we are seeing lately.

ITS SAD... BUT YES, ITS' TRUE !

MONEY Sadly is the Measure of Success Today... Youngsters are following it like it might go out of Fashion. They are not looking ahead in Life.

To Blame alongwith is the Fast Moving World... New Gadgets, Cars, Homes, Fashion, International Travel n so on... THE YOUNGSTERS WANT IT ASAP !

BUT STILL... it will be the Tortoise who will WIN THE RACE & not the initially Fast Moving Hare.

Happy Debating Friends !

Jyoti I agree with you on your thought that youngster's today hop jobs for making more money... to be honest with you we all travel in same wagon where if we are offered good compensation and position we will also change our job.

Yes, the loyalty towards an organisation is missing in youngsters but what about those employees who were fired during recession (I am also one of those casulaties) irrespective of our tenures.

There is famous saying "Love your job and not your company".

I am completely agree with Alok. People will have priority on money which is obvious but they will also look for satisfaction in their current job. In usual scenario a person within 5 years of experience will may take jump for money but after that top priority will be stability/satisfaction.
