Workplace violence, physical and emotional, is the single biggest threat to the workplace of the new millennium according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO). A whopping 78% of employees confirmed that they had been bullied or victimised at least once in their careers.

Work is hell everywhere. Gone are the days when work was wholesome for body and soul, and the workplace the centre of one's social empowerment. It is survival ground today. Lately are we becoming corporate culture victims??

You’ve started an excellent topic Dipika. Yes, we are victimized by corporate culture these days in many ways. Work life balance is getting tremendously disturbed in a few sectors. A 'much ado about nothing' mania is injected in a few so called workaholic and efficient organization. A major victim of this culture always tries to accomplish his/her ego and esteem needs from a single organization among peers, superiors and subordinates and from nowhere else. At one stage they don't pay much attention about the esteem in family, friends and locality. So a few are undoubtedly becoming victims of it.

i suppose yes but it is slow and have the tentacles to spread towards niche societies. though professionalism have improved but with some drawbacks. Life for ordinary people have become luxurious at times. But we have to be careful as it may create a society of inequalitiy and aggressiveness.

Thanks for bringing up this topic Dipika. Yes today workplace has become a place for survival only. Gone r the days when there was an emotional attachment between the employers and employees.... now it is just the threat of the job which forces you to perform........there is no attachement

Main reasons are due to lack of leadership quality & maturity, insecure feeling, competition among fellow employees, gruopism, favoritism and nepotism etc. There is no point in talking about corporate culture without practicing it.

workplace violence, let us be clear, is not restricted to men against women. I have seen women in power intimidating those less powerful but who they see as potential threats. Would this qualify as workplace violence?

yes in this corporate world this happenes normaly most in MNC because there bosses do that for their benifits in organisation. They take credit for the work that they not done. A employee who done best for his company, but when anything not happened according to him that company don't think about that employee.

Yes..most people identify so strongly with being corporate culture victim with their jobs that their whole self-esteem derives from the position they hold. You are your position and nothing more.  The new way of corporate culture is likely to trigger post traumatic stress disorder when a person is subject to Work Trauma.

Has this always been the case or are we dealing with a new phenomenon? Not totally new, because it is also a by-product of the major and profound restructuring of the workplace and globalization as companies lay off works to increase profits and overload the remaining staff to the extent that stress is commonplace in the corporate world. So we are today becoming victims of corporate culture lately.
