Gandhian ideologies are  earning world wide recognition.  At the same time Indians are seems to have ignoring these ideologies.  Some parties are resorting to propagate against the father of the nation.  Younger generation of the nation seems to have being carried away by this propagation.      Parties and political leaders are resorting to violent activities while registering their protests.  This is in total violation of Non-violence ideology of Mahatma. Pressure politics are ruling the political scenario.

Gandhian ideologies are not just satyagrahas. The great soul preached us the ethical values. Can we find these values in our present political set up. He stood for truthfulness. How many of our leaders are following this. He believed in the development model where villages are developed first i.e. development from the root. What is the fate of our rural India today. Can we find transparency in the govt. activities. Where are we going. Can we still believe that we are following the footsteps of Mahatma. Some put shoes on Mahatma Samadhi, some broke the statues of Mahatma. Some criticises Mahatma on caste and community lines. Youth hardly believe in values preached by Mahatma. I am afraid we are miles away from the path shown by Mahatma.

Gandhi is often referred to as "Mahatma" a Sanskrit word: महात्मा mahātmā means "Great Soul," an honorific first applied to him by Rabindranath Tagore. Gandhi strove to practice non-violence and truth in all situations, and advocated that others do the same. In the recent past, we witnessed our youth wearing Gandhi Cap in Anna Hazare movement. Every youth of this country would like to relate to him. The very essence of "non violence" proved very significant when Anna campaigned against corruption in India, and his call for following Gandhian values was blindly followed. Mr. Srinivas, we have optimism! No one can erase "Mahatma" from the memories of our country men, however, they try hard is my humble submission. In this I'm optimistic and one with Mr. Murthy.

yes, I think people advocate the path shown by Bapu. But in practice they don`t care for his ideals. People have excuses that following the path of bapu is not possible today.

Although I am a follower of the Mahatma, I feel that the answer to your qestion is well Yes and no. Recent Anna Hazare campaign says that as defnite No. But yes when we see the piles of corruption. We have become sensitised to such an effect that the values of Bapu is no longer relevant. We need to work on so other ideals.
