life is lived thru perceptions. We respond not to what we hear but to what we perceive to have heard. We respond not to what we see but, to what we perceive to have seen. Thus, we are wired to think & react thru our perceptions & to that extent we are all slaves of our perception. It is important that we train ourselves to perceive things +vely & when we are successful in doing it we will benefit one N all.

Dear all, I support my perception is always right. I guess something on happenings around me, it is found to be true after thorough analysis. This is what happened in all my life. I guess my wife's illness is beyond recoverable in one stage in 1998, I faced the worst thing in this world - having the last vision of her in my lap. On observing in factory, I doubt something fishy is going on, I asked my colleagues to go for an intimate inspection, they brought my perception is right. How this is possible? I, right from my childhood, practiced that what I dont know, I have always followed what is flickering in my mind. When you practice such things hereafter, you can also have good and right perception and your success will start soon. Best wishes, kv

YES i.e. most of the time due to the inadequate visibility or administered atmosphere...however the reality is that by & large we do great disservice to organization as well as respective Individuals by being captivated to ostensible value/ view not necessarily corroborated…

An interesting thought Shashikant, “slave of One’s own Perception”. The current India with its ambitious zeal to be on top of everything likes this mantra, but the question is- what that individual’s perception is? Is it the progression at all cost or regressive progression which is taking him towards achieving his goals? The inevitable truth of life is- “Things do not change but we change. What I was curious about was to know specifically how people produce results. Long ago, I realized that success leaves clues, that people who produce outstanding results do specific things to create those results. The Movers and shakers of the world are often professional modellers- people who have mastered the art of learning everything they can by following other people’s experience rather than their own. They know how to save the one commodity none of us ever get enough of –time. In fact, if you look at The New York Times best seller list, you’ll find that most of the books at the top of the list contain models on how to do something more effectively. In short the New Perception Mantra is – Someone who seizes excellence and makes it your own. Someone in constant pursuit of optimum performance, so you’re not stuck, committed to any one series of system or patterns, but instead are consistently looking for new and effective ways to produce the result you desire.

Agree shashikant, we have become slaves of our perception, not only we have become selfish but our perception about any individual, any organisation, any religion etc influence our decisions. I have seen so many people who are so rigid in there approaches that you can evaluate that their perception is ruling them. Don’t you think that’s why meditation is becoming popular day in–day on?

Prof. Ajay, What you see, hear or feel in everyday life is recorded by your brain and whenever a similar situation crops the brain understands and terms it as "PRERECORDED". Sorry saw your remark late, hope this clears the confusions

Well Mr. Shashikant, to be frank I am not a slave to my perception, the degree of perception vary . we are all human being and are reacting according to the situation and all depends. One should not have a constant perception that is not good. I am very straight forward and I will never justify my mistakes and i will accept my mistakes if committed. I have the moral courage to accept and deny, the right & wrong respectively.

Human beings have a brain that is wired to perceive what it expects and alarming things that are not expected. But we can learn to suspend this automatic reacts if we want to and find it useful. If you want to create change you need to be able to perceive the unexpected and train yourself in seeing and intepreting the unexpected. We can easily do that because we have a great imagination and we like to ply with ideas and perceptions. We master this as children, so we can always re-master our perception - if we choose to. In most countries and industies it is not good behavior to challenge the traditional perceptions of the community. There are people who follow the rules of perception. There are people who break the rules of perception. There are people who change the rules of the game of perception. What do you hope for your children? To have a life like yours? To have a better life than yours? To create better lives for themselves and others? If your children become slaves of their perception they will not be able to improve their living conditions by themselves. Teach you children the magic of changing the perception. You have a well known role model in India. Mahatma Ghandi could have stayed inside the expected behavior of an educated man of Indian origin. He chose not to. Who are the heroes in India that was able to break the mental slavery that perception offers? How did they break the mental slavery? How will you teach your children, colleagues and bosses to overcome the risk of becoming slaves of perception?

In my opinion, perceptions are not bad by themselves. We need a baseline to get into our minds all kind of new experiences. The problem is how long we stay trapped in our perceptions before evolving our thougths.

Hi Shashikant, I strongly believe that by becoming aware of my perceptions and by following a defined way to manage them - I can avoid being a slave of my perceptions.

Hi, I feel - out of compassionate observation - that you must be quoting about "SELFISHNESS". If it is so, then you can say that we, most of the time, deal with the things with certain personal objectives in mind. However, this is not true for all the activities we do throughout the cycle. Further, I would like to draw your kind attention that 'Perception' is - receiving, collecting, action of taking possession, apprehension with the mind or senses. The example of 'Perception' would be if half-filled glass is there on the table, so how would you describe it - Glass is half-full or Glass is half-empty? The Perception may be either of the two. But, your question here suggest that you may be pointing to the Greed or Selfish-ness. Therefore, I guess and believe that your argument needs to be re-phrased keeping the context in mind, don't you yourself feels so..? Anyways, thanks for raising such issue to share the thoughts on.

I am not a slave of my perception, but yes, i always long for logic behind my perception and draw a line of notion afterwords. We may not correct in each way hence should look back for a while and judge our perception, i assure you, you would find a correct way to deal with any situation.

As we grow older and become more conscious of the way our mind plays tricks on us in the light of our likes and dislikes, our pride and prejudices, pre-conceived notions and misconceptions and also, become more and more experienced in the ways of the world, we do tend to play down the initial perception of any thing, people or event that we experience in this world. We do try to judge matters more objectively through a process of reasoning or through discussions with significant others. Objectivity is thus a part of our survival technique in fact.

You can't judge it under different circumstances. During certain instances, you have to be where as in some you have to avoid it. There is no fixed parameter to ascertain this in today's diplomatic world scenario or working.

Perception is good in professional life upto a limit. If you are going to be a slave of it it won't bring any benifites to your profession i feel. We should be realistic and think twice as Mr. Anand said before acting upon our perception. It would be better to waork as team in any organization.

No, I am not a slave of my perception always, but many times, yes it dominates. We believe what we perceive and as everything changes, so do the perceptions and our mind accepts it. So, basically everyone is a slave of his perception but accepts the fact against his perception only if provided with enough reasons and facts & figures to oppose the perception. Then our mind switches from perception to validated understanding. And I love reasons to believe things.

Percptions keep changing n so do people. I feel looking through someone else's perspective is merely an eyewash cuz only he one who wears the shoe knows where it bites. We have no choice but to look a things with our own perspectives. But, yes, acknwledging that our perception needs a change n implementing the said change should be the best way forward for any individual.

'Change' as its said, is the only constant in this universe,,,,how can we move ahead being so adamant? It should change & I think it changes as we stride in our lives,,,,regarding money,,material things, priorities,,friends,,relatives,,society,,even with our spouse,,,& so on,,,isn't it? Yes Truth alone prevails & triumphs.
