One cannot please everyone at the same time. One needs to feel like deprived on the other hand when you have many happy ones. The question is are you happy or not.I feel its a good budget.

Dear Mr Cyril, Budget without any defined parameters, direction and backing of truthful assessment of will, ability and matching determination to succeed through performance of completion, is at best a meaningless exercise.

I think the railway budget looks fine, but then there were many things which were not implemented from Railway budget 2009, hope they don't repeat the same this year, but more than 100 new trains is a welcome move and the E-ticketing system mobile vans will help for that matter, and recruiting of ex-servicemen for the railway security looks fine. What do you say?

Agree with you Ramakrishnan, Yet the real problem is not in how politicians think. They are forced to use all within their powers to please their electorate and may be correct to a point in their approach. Of course this as well is only applicable to the limited HONEST ones. The real problem is thorough lack of professionalism and / or incline and intention in bureaucracy and administrative machinery, that bends backwards to appease and fails to convey What may be possible and what is not? or failing to inform and if necessary oppose whenever in best of national interest. It is the crucial balance to have long term vision, comprehend pitfalls and convey, that is completely missed when everyone is busy self servicing their own narrow interests.

not really happy. Budget is for India and not really for a specific state, Safety measures should be a part of the budget which is not at all clear. as terrorism is increasing in the country and railway should not be a victim for that. If all the things mentioned in the budget are implemented then even the budget will have some value. so lets wait and see.

It is again a run of the mill budget by a politician. Increasing the trains and schedules are not sufficient. When will be the quality of the service and the compartments of the trains will improve? The need of the hour is to improve the service conditions prevailing in the railways and improve the travel conditions for the general public.

Budget doesnt have any clear future plans and goals. Budget doesnt have any thing with prevention of accidents and modanisation. Most of the benfits are for west bengal, as usual to all railway ministers

She has no mention of Renewable usage in Railways, with the evaporation of hype around jatropha Railways need to look at other alternates like solar, Ethanol and Hydrogen usage to bring down its carbon foot print. She is not a visionary, she need to dwell on these for future energy requirements.

Happy or not, it has become a convention to make tall promises and forget. Safety and Efficiency is left to bleed over momentary happiness and never to be fulfilled promises. And present Railway Minister is as much part of this continuing exercise that meaninglessly repeats Year after Year. In effect these promises are made to fool the populace at their own cost. This is real democracy at work, where no one asks for performance report of Government and its functionaries either internally or externally.

No, I think she should also add some safety feachers to avoid the common rail accidents. Also She should focus all India equally as she is National Minister.

This is certainly an election budget eyeing cmoing polls in WB. Didi has no answers of empty funds from IR treasure, but she is quite busy in labeling this budget as "comman man's Budget". Again she has burdened IR by announcment of new trains that fine, but the most important thing IR needs is not new trains but improvement in services and securities for commuters which is still lacking. While She has tried to appease people by not raising fare which is a brave decision but we'll see how she'll manage the loss due to this step as this is not a hidden fact that the most productive segment of govt. has some hicuups which need to be adressed ASAP.

This budget lacks many things. It doesn't contains many things from Last year budget, no special measures has been taken to improve quality and security in trains. Number of trains has been increased which will increase train train traffic but no attention has been taken for better services in train. So Iam not happy with this budget.
