Yes it is important but what is more important is your willingness to study. AICTE approved colleges have better placements and have higher value. If one is studying just for a degree nothing will make a difference but if one wants real recognition he should opt for an AICTE approved college.

Today with commercialisation of education it does matter to have proper accredition otherwise the kirana store owner next to your house will also set up a B school. This adds to the fact that there are scores of B school graduates being churned out like how engineers and doctors were sometime back. You need some amount of regulation to control this mass production otherwise it will get out of hand.

AICTE approval is mandatory, if one wants to take the benefit of business school. If you are going to take up the assignment in your own family business, then its not necessary!

Approval is necessary, otherwise students have problem to get the opening in spite of completion of course. Presently, one case is happened in Pune by reputed / Top B- school IIPM, Pune. They charged for 3.75 lacs per year for a course & said it is AICTE approved, but before 5 days students come to know that it is a distance leaning course & don't have approval & which is available with other institute for 35 thousand. Now please tell me who is responsible for such incidence? & Who is going to give gone 2 years of these students?

I think what matters is the academic strength of the B-shool not AICTE approval. professional courses like MBA should not be judged by the AICTE approval but by the quality of their physical as well as intellectual infrastructure. ISB is not AICTE recognized but is one of the best B-school in the world.
