Punjab BJP MLA Khurana arrested in Bribe Case


BJP MLA Raj Khurana in Punjab was arrested by the CBI for allegedly taking bribe. His house was raided on Wednesday night. He was sent to CBI custody for two days. The incident came to light when the CBI team led by DIG Mahesh Aggarwal raided the residence of Khurana in Sector 39 in Chandigarh on Wednesday night and also questioned a government employee Devinder Singh, who is also the Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Finance) in the Parkash Singh Badal-led SAD-BJP alliance government. In fact, Devinder had allegedly demanded money on behalf of Khurana to offer it to a Punjab minister for some official work. However, the CBI has not found any incriminating document from Khurana's residence.

Khurana represents Rajpura constituency. Both Khurana and Devinder were arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act. The case came few days after Sohan Singh Thandal, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) in the SAD-BJP alliance, was sentenced by the Mohali Court for having disproportionate assets.

Agreed, everybody makes mistakes BUT that is NOT the issue here. The issue is Anna's tie-up with the RSS and BJP. If you and the BJP are that sincere then why is that states like Gujarat does not even have a Lokayukta?. A BJP chief minister called Yeddy had to be pulled and pushed out of his chair. So, put your house in order before you preach all these morality.

Anna is Corrupt

Calling Anna corrupt  and non transparent ,Congress spokerperson Manish Tiwari   said Justice PB Sawant Committee had found Anna guilty of involvement in a graft case. The Commission submitted its report on February 22, 2005 in which it criticised Hind Swaraj Trust for spending Rs 2.20 lakhs of its funds on the birthday celebrations of Hazare

Maharashtra state government had appointed the Justice Sawant commission  in September 2003  under the Commissions of inquiry Act 1952  to inquire into the allegations of corrupt pratices  and maladministration against several people, including Anna Hazare.

According to Sawant report  "A portion of land  measuring 11 Acres  was admittedly alienated  by way of gift in favour  of the Zila Parishad  without the permission of the Charity commission , contrary to section 36 of the act "

The report cited that "  the trust had committed  an irregularity and also an illegality  when it did not  report both the acquisition of the land ,i.e. about 89 acres , and also the alienation of 11 acres out of it to the Zila Parishad , Ahmednagar."Also "the alienation was also  without the permission  of the charity commissioner ,which  was illegal."

The second allegation  against Anna Hazare  according to its report is  that " About 2.20 lacs  was spent in the year 1998-99 from the trust  for celebrating birthday of Anna Hazare ".

Shri Abhay Firodia , a businessman , gifted  an equivalent amount to the trust subsequently Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari  said the trust failed to submit its audits for as many as 20 years.

Shiv Sena leader calls Anna Hazare 'Taliban Gandhi'

JALGAON (MAHARASHTRA): Shiv Sena leader and former Maharashtra minister Sureshdada Jain on Saturday called anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare a 'Taliban Gandhi'.

Jain, who has filed a defamation case against Hazare, said in Jalgaon that "nobody can misuse the name of Mahatma Gandhi" in the manner the crusader is doing in his agitation on the anti-graft Lokpal bill.

"Everybody is against corruption. But we are a country of great institutions and they cannot be bypassed by using such pressure tactics," Jain told IANS.

"Everything will happen on its own time. You cannot resort to blackmailing tactics of this kind," Jain said, referring to Hazare's proposed agitation for the Lokpal bill in Delhi from Aug 16.

Hazare, who had come here Saturday afternoon in connection with the defamation case, said: "The whole world knows who is Anna Hazare and who is Suresh Jain. Such people pelt stones at trees which bear fruits."

In 2003, Hazare accused Jain, the then Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and state minister, of corruption and launched an agitation.

The ruling Congress-NCP state government later set up a commission headed by former judge P.B. Sawant to probe the charges against Jain and the then two ministers - Nawab Malik and Padamsinh Patil, who were named by Hazare.

Justice Sawant's report, submitted in 2005, indicted Jain, along with Malik. Jain was forced to resign from the ministry, after which he slapped a defamation case against Hazare. "Who is he to speak about corruption? I had exposed his corruption rackets and that is why he agitated against me," Jain said.

Following Jain's complaints of corruption against Hazare, the commission probed him. Hazare was also indicted under several counts of corrupt practices by the commission.

Not to forget, there are many allegations against Baba Ramdev for accepting copious amount as a fee to join his Divya Yog trust. Furthermore, Baba Ramdev is not a monk who sold his Ferrari, rather he owns an island in Scotland which is said to be worth more than £2 million. The island is spread in an area of over 1.25 sq km and has a 13th century castle on it. Though Baba Randev is determined to open an international yoga retreat centre on the island but will he care to tell us, how it will help his countrymen.

On the contrary, money has been deluged like anything in the preparation for Baba’s hunger strike. A fully furnished tentative tent (Pandal) has been prepared at Delhi’s Ramlila Maiden which is Baba’s Karma bhumi for next few days. Tent is said to spread in 250000 square feet area and has all the modern amenities like AC, 780 fans, 100 coolers,50 beds-ICU, 100 CCTV cameras and toilets.

...As Baba’s popularity grew, so did the controversies. Baba has been in news for some impetuous controversies, like the one he had with Brinda Karat of Communist Party of India (Marxist) for sacking without any prior notice 115 volunteers, who were working in his Divya Yog Pharmacy manufacturing in Haridwar. Later, the sacked workers alleged Baba of using human skulls and animal parts in his medical syrups. However, Baba accused Karat of attempting to malign yoga and Ayurveda.

No Ajay whether it is against govt. or for self defense no place for such armed force which is against the Democracy & the purpose of raising civil society. A leader's image, conduct,honesty & sincerity in serving people should be a natural protective force than these so called pvt.armies who start under self defense then slowly extend their wings to other areas, finally end with hand in glove with antisocial,anti-national elements.

We all discussed & well known the main drawback of BABA's conduct & behavior which causes lot of inconvenience & injuries to his followers who Double Crossed Govt. & his followers & participants who assembled in good-faith. Having said that, I'm not justifying the Govt. action, but would like to point out because of his wrong policy & procedure has drawn the ire of the govt & sufferings for the assembled, most of the outstation participants thought it was Yoga Camp.

When Guru,Netaji etc formed an army there was no IPC, when Baba Ramdev wants to form there is IPC. He will be booked under sections, 120B,121A,122,124A and to add home-made nationalistic flavor, BJP's own POTA can also be used.

Binayak Sen was jailed for meeting the communist terrorist using Section 124 A. Why is Baba Ramdev not booked under Sec 124A of IPC for giving a call to wage a war against the state???

I am not sure what he intends to do by making multiple profiles, may be it becomes easier to report anyone abuse or something like that. This is in itself a serious issue.

I would like to caution all who contemplate joining such a private army.

INDIA NEEDS EVOLUTION NOT REVOLUTION.

I assume that you are ready to join an army and give up your lives, am I right?

If you are ready to make such a commitment, why not commit to a FINANCIAL BOYCOTT?

Imagine - 11,000 people in an army means that there are 11,000 families. If these 11,000 families first stop buying petrol and rely solely on public transport for one month, I believe that many will be ready to join them. 

In fact, to put my money where my mouth is, I too shall stop buying petrol and use public transport instead.

As a nation, we should boycott petrol as much as possible. If we reduce our personal demands for a year, we can set a lot of things right.

Similarly, let us extend that idea to many other items. Let us stop paying bribes - REALLY STOP - for just ONE year.

We can bring the ENTIRE CABAL to its knees IF we all personally contribute in our own way. 

VIOLENCE IS DEFINITELY NOT A SOLUTION.

Armed force struggle by Ramadev would certainly raise eyebrows on his means to fight corruption. Such hasty decisions would not only tarnish his image but would further raise a myriad of questions on the minds of many other interested parties on his sincerity to solve corruption. He has already been wrongly/ correctly linked to RSS and now his empire stands under scrutiny for the amount of wealth he has amassed through legal/illegal means (you decide on that).

Certainly a wrong move that needs correction to win back some of his supporters.

For the kindest information of you there is a provision in our democratic country's constitution that a common man, the public can appeal the government for his security and government is bound to provide after negotiating the intensity of the threat. Moreover government does sponsor security levels according to the needs. So nobody needs to create armed force on his own and it is illegal also. 

very strong NO. Agitation is to open avenues for the commoner, one and all. These people are bringing in unnecessary mess again. We have got some of the highly qualified ministers in our govt. We get to see some real responsible faces in control when we see news today. Indians are being looked upon in the world. Our media is blunt and sharp. We all are so open and active today. We need to go forward from here. Corruption is there because we are not the change we seek. We are engineers, doctors, civil servants, corporate people and responsible businessmen. Lets stop shouting now and get back to our work. Anna and Baba should not mislead to do things which we repent tomoroow.
