I guess there is a healthy competition in the high-end bikes segment, the country's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj today launched its much-awaited 250cc motorcycle Kawasaki Ninja, priced at Rs 2.7 lakh.  Facing stiff competition from Yamaha these days in this category, and adding to the woes Harley is entering the market and there are many players who are thinking of entering this segment.

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R is a 4-stroke engine and would be retailed exclusively through Bajaj's Probiking showrooms.

The probiking concept which was conceived by Bajaj four years ago with the objective of making it the automatic destination for bike enthusiasts looking for bigger and sportier bikes... the launch of the Kawasaki Ninja 250R is one of many initiatives lined up in realising that objective, said the report.

What do you think guys will this Probiking concept be successfull? Will they become the default choice for sportier bikes in future? Share your views on this.

Yes, Bike lovers like me would really like this concept a lot.....I think this a very good concept which bajaj is using to fight the competition against YAMAHA...YAMAHA has really banged the market with its new models...I really like all of them...They really look like sport bikes...But now when i came to know about KAWASAKI NINJA, i am now eagerly waiting to see it....

Ok apart from it ultimately it is because of this probiking concept started by bajaj in india, lots of youngster are attracted towards sport bikes...And i think bajaj knows very well what youngsters are wanting, as it is too provding good bikes in market....

And i dont think that all people driving bikes want to showoff....There are many people like me who love riding the bikes...

So over all this concept ROCKS..!!!!!

The concept of introducing SuperBikes is just for the sake of Brand popularity..
In India where people loves showoffs, the promos really give advantage on the business profits..

So as per the question, probiking concept does work.. !!

But this marketing strategy is not the future..!!

I would like to go on with the opinion of Anuj. Only few people like to show off not all. There are so many people who just love to raid their bike and they want some bikes like ninja and karizma zmr. The bike with 220 and above cc with the latest technologies are often gives a g8 raiding pleasure.

coming to the Bajaj, it has got a good eye catching ability. when there were only one or two bikes with 150 cc engine Bajaj launched its Pulsur 150. It was a huge success. most of the young stars love to have it.

coming to the concept MTV's one show abt the biking skills is big hit.

so i think the Probiking concept ll rock.....

as u said it is not suit for indian roads, but im against that 4 stroke engines drink more petrol... As compared to two stroke engines 4 stroke engines are more fuel efficient.

This is a good step taken by Bajaj. Yahama is already on the way to gain the competitive advantage with new sporty bike againshed traditional fuel efficient bikes. It may not be sold in high volume but it could generate more profit. Already youth group in the country shoeing good interest in powerful bikes. This bike is targeting the young thrill lover & rich. Its not for the 100cc bike users. For them bike is a need not want. If we take the exampl Yamaha is already got the success with FZ & R15 & the new Fazer. Ninja is one step ashed to thous models of Yamaha. Even when Karizma was launched so many people told that it'll not be succeeded. Whereas it got the success among its target market. And I think it was necessary for Bajaj to launch a model like this.. Because FZ has already started replacing the Pulser.

Bajaj started the Probiking outlets some time back. Apart from a glance here & there, they were hardly noticed by the biking comunity. What the blue blooded bikers wanted was world class performance to satisfy the rush.

It took some time coming, but this is one gem of a bike. Looks great, just like a maxi-sports bike. Performs really well, with 33ps power from liquid cooled engine. The bike has all the bits & pieces from Kawasaki garage & for 2.7lasks only. It should take some thounder away from the Yamahas. The bike being assembled from CKD saves duties. Also being the only bike in this catagory it should be a runnaway success. This is certainly the product to revive the fortunes of the Probiking stores.

Kawasaki Ninja in India, God bless BAJAJ !!!!!

The recent success stories of Yamaha shows that there definitely is a good market share for biking enthusiasts with needs for bigger and meaner bikes.  The Probiking concept therefore should work for Bajaj as well... If there is a success story for Yamaha, there can be a success story for Bajaj too...

Probiking is a good initiative by Bajaj - to bring the high end bikes to india at an affordable cost which will otherwise costly and tedious process to import these bikes for an individual. Its time that indian bikers also have access to world class bikes and Bajaj had done this to satisfy that market segment. Though its a niche segment with less volumes the margins will be higher which will help the investors of Bajaj in the long run

Bajaj has very few PROBIKING showroom in the country. THese are used to display technology to customers & instill confidence in the BRAND. These showrooms have the necessary resources ( unlike delaerships) to showcase the latest technology in great detail as the buyers of these superbikes are extremely knowledgable. Now these bikes have a very niche segment ( fraction of a percentage of the two wheeler market) that they cater to. with improving road networks definately there are places to ride these bikes.

I think this probiking concept would be a great success as the needs of the customers are changing towards sports bike, but Indian roads are not at all suitable for the sports bike. So a probiking concept is much suitable for the Indian roads as well the looks of a sport bike gives it an edge over the other bikes in the country. There are less models available in India to compete in that range.

yes, I think it would get much success in the market. Because India is only country which having more no. of youth people. As Bajaj has already got its brand in the market by launching Pulsar Bikes of different CCs. Now a days people are crazy about sports bikes, even people purchase simple bike & go for modification of the bikes like sports bike.

But the budget will definitely affect the purchase of BIKES.

I think this probiking concept is good and Bajaj has taken a good initiative by getting sports bikes to India through this and there are many sports bike makers who want to entry in the Indian market but with so much regulations and stuff it will be difficult for them to run their own distribution channel for those bikes, so with probiking concept one can come under the vast network of Bajaj that is there in India and can help in that regard, in a way the high-end bike segement is getting hotter by the day, it would be great to see what Yamaha and others comeup with.

i think the major component of the 2.7 lac price tag is the 100+% of import duty, even then it is only for brand identity the ninja is launched here, even though it's one of the best 250s in the world, the company can simply do nothing about price due to the import duty. and i am not sure if we will see much of the ninjas outside the probiking show rooms. but it is a nice strategy to create a buzz for the brand, but it definitely wont add much to the company's sales figures nor its incomes.

The concept is really poor cos the price of the bike is too high in front of its engine specification. Paying an amount of Rs. 2,95000 for a bike of 250cc is just like foolishness even if they are providing 30 bhp

ill support this view as this is very true that only introducing new and advanced product is not the thing which make every thing  satisfying .New product development is one thing but product acceptability is most important .. so weather ur product can work in ur environment smoothly is more important then only lunching  for branding... i do agree with manpreet, sarika mam

I agree with Akhilesh. We still don't that that quality of roads which can support these kind of bikes. These bikes won't be able to sustain our Indian roads. Moreover, it will be very tough to manage these bulky bikes in our huge traffic. This is a four stroke engine bike which means it will consume lot of petrol and with the rising petrol prices, it will be impossible to both manage the expenditure of petrol and servicing simultaneously.

People we need infrastructure to support these kind of vehicles, with bad roads, we are just making it more difficult for the bike to perform and also on our wallets with constant servicing. and majority of the times people go for things which are relevant for them and not solely because they are passionate riders. if there is no relevance in terms of these bikes and our roads, i don't see this probiking gaining momentum.
