Govt spends crores of rupees by advertising its achievements in rural education, health and other things. Each ad bears photos of Congress Ministers. Everyday four to five pages in biggest newspapers like TOI are cluttered with such ads. TV and radio are also used for publicity. When economy is reeling under recession, does this make any sense?

The Govt is just trying to showoff since elections are very near.

I don't agree with Nikhil's view here why will people forget if the government or any candidate has done good for the country or the constituency for that matter, Thousands of crores of ruppes are spent on this campaign and its simply a waste of money which is not useful for anything, why not do good things and reap in benefits of those good things rather than this absurd campaigns which are simply waste of money and waste of public time for those campaigns where huge public is gathered by giving money to them....

According to me there is no wrong in Advertising the governments achievement, when everybody is doing that, why shouldn't the government do, they are doing because people tend to forget what the government has done for them in the past and they are not showing anything wrong right, they are just showcasing what they have achieved and nothing else, as this biggest elections of all time as the voters this time are most of them are youngsters and mostly because people are crazy about television in the country and they are trying to capture the voters imagination through the biggest media format and there is no wrong in it........

I agree. India should be self-reliant in this filed it has capability to do so. Imports are means of getting kick-backs for politicians should be restricted. They also drain a lot of foreign excahnge which is not good for the economy.

Yes I agree with Sheetal. I will like to add to her point that many students get degrees but they have no knowledge. In some cases people persue courses which do not have anything to do with their area of work. Its just for show-off.
