Is Bangalore metro going to be a successful project in terms of meeting the objectives?

With all due respect sir, I was just making my point. I have a point of view that I have expressed in my blog and put for debate here. You do have your point of view too and our thinking does not match on this one topic. I do not mean to claim that I am right and you are wrong. I also do not mean to offend you in any way. I am sure there will be millions of topics where we will totally agree with each other.

You seem to be having much more experience than me. So let us keep the debate going. Maybe after all I am wrong and my point of view is corrected.

There is no doubt that Bangalore needs metro. Infact we are late, but better late than never. The issue is with the design. The metro is being built at the expense of the roads. Metro as such will be a hit. It will be overcrowded and will make travel much smooth for those who take it. However, for the road users, it is going to be hell.

Of course it will be a great hit. Bangalore needs a metro service today. Its roads are jammed because of Traffic like anything. After the success of this project, I believe, it will be the greatest gift for the people of Bangalore.

I have extensively travelled in MRT Singapore (Metro in Singapore) as i did not have a car there. I have also travelled in LRT Malaysia (Metro in Malaysia). I am not sure if it is ok to compare any Indian city with Malaysia and Singapore, but Bangalore is definitely not. Indian cities are very different and Bangalore might be the extreme. (I am not discussing good or bad here)

In Singapore they had planned and executed much ahead, here we are already too late.

In Singapore MRT and LRT complement other means of transport, here Metro is being built at the cost of other means of transport.

Biggest difference is that in Singapore we do not see two wheelers trying to get into every inch they can find and auto drivers zooming as if they were on gun point.
