I think the means are more important than the end.

Why do we have corruption ? Because we are only bothered about our goals , and not by how we achieve them.

Even otherwise , if an organization has the right processes , and the right people , then the goals will be met. This is the basis for standards certifications like ISO.

Then why do we have standards, Standards Institutes, ISOs, CMM (various levels), LEAN, etc. For the established products, process is important. For an innovation, you can avoid processes, after all, unless accepted and patented, whatever you do is yours!

At the end of the day, we would be more proud of achieving our goals rather than being happy to follow procedure. As already said, process may get in the way of innovation.
