Lot of schemes are going on in india and developing nations to get rid of slums. But most of them are partially successfull. Or successfull on one count or other.

urban slums.. is more of a precise word that can be used... cause they develop rapidly in the super metros or the other metropolitan areas... revitalization of the slums should be done. but on what basis? is it the infrastructure that we should see? or the economic perspective? or the development of these areas.. by not uprooting them from the place they are .. cause that is not an easy task.. but we can surely develop the area in which they stay... of course the indian government and the people in india should be ready to do this .. and as we all know the indian government is not running low in finance or having any scarcity in money... i am an arhcitect who always wanted to do something about the slums in india.. if any one is doing something effective and fruitful on this topic . pls do count me in...

The private developers who want to set up industries, shopping malls, multiples screens, etc should be asked to build some appartment type dwellings based on their investment and these should be givne to the people living in slum areas. While alloting Govt land to private investors, they should be asked to develop atleast 25% of the land like that.

Slums are the part and parcel of all cities in India. The rehabilitation of the slums is very much necessary for the development of a city. The government must identify the slum pockets and start PPP projects for their development. Government must sign pacts with private developers and ask them to build houses for slum dwellers. In return, the developers must be provided land for commercial use at the same place. The urban local bodies must be given additional powers and responsibilities for the slum rehabilitation.

Yes every person on this earth had right to live a diginified life. Govt need to support the rehabilitation but at a cost ,not a free service so that it should not encourage the slums .

The similar type of scheme is working in Mumbai , Though the scheme was initially successfull but on a long run you find that instead of removing slum it is encouraging slums. The developer in liasion with politician and other landlord are creating slum , then declaring slum and working for their commercial benifits thus overall working for increase of slums
