Marketing is a wider term which is used to create market presence and awareness. Sales would never shape up if marketing is weak/absent.To know the target audience, market trends, advertising are important activities of marketing prior we start selling.Hence marketing aggressively is essential before selling aggressively. I agree with James, Marketing is the first step if you want to sell your product. If your product has a good reputation in market then you will always get customers easily and your sell will be high.So eveything depends upon your marketing approach. By

Sales comes under marketing strategies. Marketing strategies are executed by sales teams. Its a branch of Marketing, it has no separate entity deviating from marketing. But when it comes to the public interaction, sales team will have proximity advantage. Again it is part and parcel of marketing strategy.
It is ultimately the word Marketing which survives brand sales volume & Selling product is no doubt a skill without any marketing stuff but still for reaching better & more consumer base marketing is a must for any brand.
Yes, As said by James, A sales team executes the strategies developed by the Marketing team. But the thing is that the mktg team should get the views of the sales team before the strategy gets finalised. This will make good understanging of the strategy and will be executed better. By

It is either. Sales still exists for some product groups like petrolium products some specialised medicine rest all are marketing. The basic difference between sales and marketing is when the demand is greater than supplies and in marketing is to make the size of cake bigger in order to exist in the market. I dont want to go into other details.
Hence I mentioned either depending the product range. Thanks for the refferal.
ya james i agree with you, both are important for a new product, but if the catogory is already known to consumer i think selling strategeis can work more than marketing..... By

am with u James marketing n sales are two sides of a coin which would help u create brand awareness n increased no of product sales with out marketing u can't expect good sales n if u need good sales u got hv effective marketing plan.
Hi James, i agree with you but partially. Lets take an example of Titan industries which have well marketed its brand to the targeted customer.
Fasttrack brand which is focused on the youth if not lauched without proper advt and marketing startegy then the sales would have been effected. Its marketing thats plays a major role in the whole scenario.
Marketing focuses more on the usp of the product rather than just sticking the brand to the consumer
Well i think sales are the main part, in market if product is marketed aggressively it can dominate the market Ex- Onjus juice has been launched in market without any marketing campaign but it is doing exceptionally well in north India and challenging the established brands like Dabur Real, tropicana, etc By

Sujatha i Don't agree wrong pricing policy is an important factor that cannot be ignored. Retailers need to rework on their pricing strategy instead of keeping the prices high and then looking for opportunities to bring them down in order to clear the...
