The so called law of the land itself is bent and illegalities galore by the very lawmakers is proof of the facade of sorts we have to put up with. All these priorities take back seat just because we elect a government thinking of their other virtues.

Our country after this decision has become efficient in giving sessions to everyone in the world , how to save anyone from being convicted, lessons of corruption and many more... I believe that our government should start a Global institute for this... Imagine 15k+ people dead, more than 1 lack affected, so many children with deficiencies. And the judgement- 2 years of Jail and can get bail by a small deposit of Rs.20k.. The court has made the lives of people so cheap... Its a mockery of Judgement and nothing else and we can just blog on the topic and can do nothin else...

A Rich Is Given Partial Treatment Even In The Court Of Law In Order Not To Starin The Indo-US Relations. Had This Happened In US With Any Indian Company, The Resultas Could Have Been Fast & Accurate Punishment With "N" Numbers Of Sanctions !!! I Would Call This A Biggest Blunder In The Legal History Of Free India !!!

Do you think that justice is there in India? Not At All. The Eyes of Goddess of Justice are blind folded for the reason she should not show favor to any one. I think with these types of Judgements over a long time in several cases, that money power/political power/ muscle power have gouged out the eyes of the Goddess of Justice. There should be an independednt body to fix the accountability of the judges who are prone to give such judgements

a big TRAGEDY! this is the fine example of knowing how a big, wealthy and powerful corporates can buy justice as required.there is a very strong need of the hour to union Govt.to intervene in this issue.

This is classic example of Indian Politicians and system up to, They can sell the nation and its people for their own interest. Question Everybody should ask is Are we safe with Indian government? In America compensation paid for molestation(maybe false) cased go into million. Here million lives costs nothing.

Accident of gas leakage occurred on 2-3 december 1984....today ie 8 june 2010 we have with us the judgement of chief judicial magistrate awarding a punishment of maximum 2years when the charge sheet framed includes section 304-A of IPC (death by negligence). The accident claiming lives of around 3000 people. what is more interesting to note is all accuse got released on bail in the evening of 7 june itself. what more evidence is required to say this judgement is actually no judgement

I think its just too late and too little justice given to the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy. Even the union cabinet minister of law Veerrapa Moily commented that the judgment has been delayed and is unsatisfactory and he is not happy the decision. Out of the total accused 7 of them have already died before the law could take its trial. So this shows the trust and strength of our legal system where victims are sentenced to long awaiting justice and the accused who are claimed to be criminals are only sentenced to 2 years of jail along with Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Keshub Mahindra and the global chairman of Union Carbide who was arrested at that time in 1984 and was let free on bail and then summoned many times has fled from the country and is intraceable.

Mockery of judgement is a pure understatement. All one ends up understanding is that's probably the way world goes about. Not to talk of US or any other country for that matter, the world's that. Thanks Purvi for raising this and to share the sentiments.

Mockery of Justice is not the term to be used. There is no justice at all. This clearly shows that the argument if you have the money and clout you can buy justice. I want to get into the Judges mind as to what he was thinking when he passed the judgement. After all these years of spending money on the case and NGOs and the common people fighting to get justice, the whole case seems a farce. My heart goes out to the people who have died and the innumerable people who are suffering even today to what has happened. Let all intelligent people of this country fight to get justice for the victims. What has happened in Bhopal can happen anywhere and we all might be back to square one.

Even after 25 years what Justice can you provide. Many life finished. Its true "Justice delayed and Justice denied". Still Jayram ramesh will go to bhopal and say "where is the mercury"? Hopeless! We are the people who are responsible for it. Still some where giving our Valuable votes to these parties and prasing these Politicians. Union carbide is not the problem , the problem is our shamless politicians which have no value for the life of people of india

Our Govt. alone has brought this mockery of justice. Cant comment about Judiciary. -- 26 yrs for trial - not a mockery ? --Total death toll : 15,000, some say it is 35,000 -- affected people : more than 6 lakh Why such a meager punishment ? Why such an IPC may not be ammended ? Why Indian Govt, allowed Mr Anderson, the-then Chairman of Union Carbide leave India ? Why he could not be brought back to India for trail ? --- India Govt. settled the case "out-of-the-Court" for a paltry $ 47 crore where as they lodged a claim for $ 330 crore in USA court - why ? The effect of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy is still there - lives have become difficult who are alive. Question is : is it a development ? How Govt. may explain its lapses ? ........................ Industrialisation is necessary, big investments are needed, FDI is also welcome. But, the prime necessacity is the "Health and Environment" of citizens. May we understand this before it is too late ?

I am pained by the loss of people in Carbide gas leak Please understand this is not mockery, there are certaisn facts which you need to know the entire area was Muslim dominated and they were supported by politicinas to file false applications for compensation in name of votes. The actual people have not been allowed to file compensation at all. The problem was made worse by the plant's location near a densely populated area, non-existent catastrophe plans and shortcomings in health care and socio-economic rehabilitation. Analysis shows that the parties responsible for the magnitude of the disaster are the two owners, Union Carbide Corporation and the Government of India, and to some extent, the Government of Madhya Pradesh. What’s more, even the Madhya Pradesh government told the apex court that children conceived in the gas-affected environment or born after the tragedy were not entitled to free treatment after age of 18. The government’s confession came after some victims said that children of gas victims above the age of 18 are not being given free treatment in specialised hospitals. In 1989, the Supreme Court approved a settlement between the central government and Carbide, under which the company agreed to pay $470 million (Rs 713 crores then) as compensation and the government agreed to drop all civil and criminal proceedings against it. Of the Rs 713 crores paid by Carbide, Rs 113 crores was paid to people who had suffered property or livestock damage. The remaining Rs 600 crores was distributed among nearly six lakh victims or family members of those who died. If you are saying these 8 Indians are responsible then sorry I do not agree it is govt and govt alone which is responsible and they have made a mistake of allowing the plant to come up in such harmful condition adn then allowed it to function in Bhopal If the people haev not got justice it is becoz of govt of India and not becoz of these 8 Indians who are accused
