BI is the best alternative, BI will give you all management information, can use several programs and integrate them into the data warehouse, and you can select info customizing the reports you want to see.

Ashuthosh is correct, with BI we can integrate DW and other applications. Especialy SAS is the numero uno among other BI tools.

SAP has so many parts to it that you'll probably have to get a niche area and branch out into other modules. SAP also has a built in BI module called BW. So you'll be able to cover both options at the same time
